I think there's a small subset of people, men included, that have avoidance or anger issues and misdirect that toward strangers because they aren't bold enough to face their real enemies. There's also the huge factors of classism and capitalism, where the more money one spends, the higher the expectation for better or flawless service. Not to mention some people are bullies, and people are often trying to get something for nothing through bullying.

But while I'm glad so many people rush to the defense of the underpaid working class, I think many often forget that, precisely because so many people are underpaid and under-trained, they don't care about doing a good job or are fallible and incompetent. If I had a child with a peanut allergy, and someone's poor listening skills led to my kid being poisoned, believe me when I say I won't care what I'm called while going full scorched earth on whomever is responsible.
