Why do "Karen"'s exist?

quite a few of the recordings I viewed were in businesses where the employee's can't simply walk away. they ask Karens to leave, but they don't and just get madder about it.
I'll admit, I rarely witness them live where I live, but I think if I did, I would step right in and say something to them.

Because people don't step up, is what allows people to get away with it. It's not always police situations, sometimes society needs to police itself.

oh, I fully agree with all of this. whether it is a popular truth or not. it's worked FINE for thousands of years - only now are we "Enlighted" enough to believe it could work better messing up roles.

And now, SOME women think it is justified to yell at poor fast food workers, or lay down their own laws around them. Because no one will touch them. WE KNOW men can be assholes... we don't need the "fairer sex" to join in on that level of stupid.
It just seems like kind of a new thing. I know it is not, but it is a growing thing that has turned into even having a name now: A Karen

ENTITLEMENT is kind of self explanatory mostly, but here's the definition for how we are using it:
the fact of having a right to something.
the amount to which a person has a right.
the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.

This exactly explains many of the various Karen videos where a women is telling others how to act in public (right or wrong it's not their place to mandate), or insanely blowing up at people because their coffee wasn't made correctly.
I've been given many wrong orders over the years, and going back and yelling at the has never once entered my mind an effective solution. I've politely and respectfully returned and almost always get a free replacement and apologies from management. Not looking to condemn anyway, I just want to get the order I paid for. :)

but these filmed karens (if real and I believe most are) lose their freaking minds and start screaming at the top of their lungs. like crazy people.

Maybe there is more mental illness out there than we want to acknoledge, and karen's are just part of it? Maybe when Karen's freak out, they need to be sumbitted somewhere like a dangerous crazy person would be. Perhaps that would calm down the future karens into acting more civil, if society starts refusing to allow it.

Don't make YOUR issue everyone else's. that's not realistic no matter what YOUR FEELINGS are. The world doesn't revolve around you, and never will. learn to cope, seek help, whatever, but get out of public if public is causing YOU problems.

I don't think she's a Karen. I think she has mental problems that have nothing to do with what she is claiming. I think she needs help. Perhaps she shouldn't be in public. I think she needs help. That's not the behaviour of a Karen though to me. A Karen is someone who is entitled and "demands to speak to the manager", while belittling others. I don't see that here. I see some one who is mentally ill.
