Uncoupled (2022) Michael's life seemed to be perfect, until his long time partner blindsided him after 17 years of being in long time relationship. He has to confront the nightmares of losing his soulmate and suddenly finding himself as a single gay man in his mid-40s. Neil Patrick Harris

Just released on Netflix. I'm a big fan of Neil Patrick Harris, from How I met your Mother, so I'm assuming this will be funny.

Star Wars (1977) on VHS.

reply

I don't believe this. Why would you still have a VHS player?

I’m always happy to supply proof to a nonbeliever. 😀

I'm just not sure why you'd watch it that way. What was the other way to watch a movie during VHS that looked like a record? it didn't last long. I remember my aunt had several movies on this forgotten format.

reply

Some films are better on VHS format. DVD versions of Star Wars (1977) include CGI not shown in the original release. Many people prefer the original. Another example is Return of the Living Dead (1985). The VHS release includes the original soundtrack that was later altered on the DVD release. There are many great films out there that were only released on VHS also. So besides the nostalgia factor, there are many other reasons to watch a film on VHS.

The other format your thinking of is the Laser Disc player.

reply

Thanks the Laserdisc thing. Do you know anything about it, why didn't it take off. It seemed so advanced. My aunt had about 15 movies on it, but it disappeared really fast, Why??

reply

I don’t have one but I’ve heard that besides being so bulky, some films couldn’t fit on one disc. So a user would have to get up in the middle of a movie and flip or put in a second disc.

I accidentally bought The Deep (1977) on laser disc a while back at a resale place because I mistakenly thought it was a vinyl soundtrack.

I just finished Prey (22)
It was thoroughly enjoyable, the main girl and her brother were very heroic, the FX were very convincing and it had a good story.
The hero’s dog was adorable… what a doggie, smarter than mine LOL!

On HULU now btw.
