Have you ever visited the capital of your country.
I have been to Ottawa twice. The parliament buildings are very nice. The war museum is also enlightening.

sharenever been. i've only been 'east' a few times on business trips into toronto, and every time those were 'fly in first thing in the morning, fly home that night' deals.
i kinda hate traveling. i don't really wanna have dinner with anyone, never mind traveling across the continent. crammed into airplanes, shelling out for hotels, all that business holds absolutely zero appeal to me.
a guy i used to work with once offered to take me to senegal to stay with his family after i lost my job, and i almost took him up on it, but decided that i just am not built for that kind of trip. i really hate the idea of being away from home for a day, never mind a month.
Been to DC twice. Would love to go back a 3rd.
shareNo. I don't travel. There are some sites there that do sound interesting, though.
shareI've been to Ottawa once. I liked it better than Toronto.
why?
shareI like history. There are some cool things to see there, and it just felt older.
For the most part Toronto is just another city. Parts of which are kind of gross and dirty. When I travel, I'm not a huge fan of cities. The Science Centre was pretty cool, and I enjoyed Eaton's centre, it was big, but so is West Edmonton Mall so when it comes to malls, it was just that.
there is a lot of history in Ottawa. all Canadians should see it at least once.
shareI spent many years working in London, and I visit there often (when there isn't a pandemic).
shareNope I have no desire to given the current state of politics and the rampant corruption. Also the only reason they want to make DC a state is to destroy conservatism and the two party system.
shareYes, and Washington DC was very impressive.
The Smithsonian is a tremendous and humbling experience, a history nerd's daydream
Not to be a whiner but damn, DC traffic and parking will drive you bananas!
Yes, around the 4th of July... I wanted to break up my trip, but wanted to avoid another 5-hour layover, and thought I might as well stick around, and re-route myself, buying another ticket back home.. I did see the fireworks on the White House lawn, probably the best fireworks display, but Melbourne, Australia was just as great, especially from where many of us were standing, on a roof of our hostel.
Fortunately/Unfortunately, a half an hour after coming back from a 9 month world tour (and getting busted at the airport by customs), I had sex with the woman in our room, and that's pretty much all I did the week I was there. It was 100 degrees every day, so I might not have visited all the museums and must-see shit anyway.
