Some people mentioned the type of unisex bathrooms where it's basically one room, one stall. I have no issues with that.
But I do have issues with shared public bathrooms. Men use urinals. Women don't want to be exposed to guys dropping trou and exposing themselves. Furthermore, men never leave the toilet seat down, and women won't touch a seat if they can help it.
On top of that, women use bathrooms to straighten themselves up (adjust bras, panty lines, etc.). But more importantly, they get periods, and women don't want to have to deal with feminine hygiene issues with mean in the vicinity. Nor would men enjoy coming across bloody toilet seats or tampons that didn't quite make it on the first flush.
