When I worked in a restaurant, when a group of women age 50+ comes in, the staff all give a collective sigh and start praying they go in someone else’s section.
Women in that age group are the rudest, most entitled, obnoxious group of people, and also are usually the worst tippers.
its really quite simple. Usually fat middle aged, haggard looking ogres like that have virtually nothing to offer in the ways of education, profound intellect, personality, or even femininity. So to alleviate for their failures, they play the white privilege+ female empowerment dual combo fervently, hoping that it will make up for such failures. When it doesn't do that, they start hanging out with other fat, middle aged, haggard looking ogres, and they all work these combos as a group for the benefit of group collectivity and enhancement of each other's sense of self. Because there is power in numbers, and with the combo of white privilege + female empowerment, they can take on anything that brings a "strong, independent, hard working mother/single woman" down.
was this in an all you can eat fried chicked place on a trailer park?
or maybe in a jail?
or Jersey Shore?
I know a lot of women over 50 and they all seem quite affable.
Although I admit im not in a public service job where i can make as accurate an assesment as you.
I watch alot of these on YouTube, they are just crazy. How the staff stay so calm is amazing. The customer is Not always right!
I don't know why there are so many of them or why they think it's ok to behave this way.
It's funny because they obviously think they are superior to others but really they just make themselves look foolish by acting like a toddler who can't get their own way (they will never see it like this of course🙄).
If I ever turn into one of these women feel free to swear at me 😉
I've heard from people who used to work in restaurants that the worst customers were the ones you would least expect: the Sunday morning after-church crowd. Arrogant, demanding and stingy when it came to tips.
I personally think it's a stereotype of Karens, because honestly, I've seen Karens that were not always:
- white
- middle-aged
- wearing short hair
Some of them aren't even women! Some are men, though pop culture hasn't come up with a unique name for them yet.
Some aren't even doing it in stores; they'll do it on the phone! Years ago, my mom and brother worked at a call center that covered people not paying their phone bills and they had been cut off, paying for their dish network, and customer service regarding problems. More than once, mom told me of extremely stubborn Karens (both male and female) who would demand to see the supervisor, and would get really pissy when they found out that mom was the only person they were going to have to deal with, and nobody else. It got more interesting when they'd get the supervisor, and the supervisor would just dump them back onto mom's phone after 5 seconds with them.
The real issue is, some people feel more entitled as they age, because they think they know everything and everyone should respect them for it, despite reality saying otherwise. Some people love to cause drama, or are just plain demanding assholes, and will make scenes so long as they are allowed to. It's what adult brats look like.
That's the thing, there are rude, entitled, idiotic, and difficult people to be found in every walk of life!
But for some reason, it's become fashionable to mock and comment on "Karens" (middle-aged white women), and not other groups of people. It's really just another stupid internet fad, following in the footsteps of "Ok, Boomer".
