I recently opened an account and I kind of regret it. You follow people that have amazing lives and you stare at their pictures wishing their life was your life. I feel so boring in comparison to them...

Kind of like Facebook. You see how grand everyone else's life is compared to yours and then you find out it's all bullshit.

Don't buy into it.

Yes, I like to follow people with cute/funny/interesting animals. I don't post anything.

No, but my partner does (he doesn’t use it much at all) and he sometimes shows me nice photos of people’s goats.

I have Instagram only to post pictures of the animals at my work, and it's mostly the goats.

I have an account but not used it for 5 or 6 years now. I found it the same as you have. Very detrimental to my mental health. It just confirmed what I always thought of social media.
