I heard a terrifying sound today....

I was sitting outside the mall at one of the tables drinking my tea and eating my bagel and there were lots of people outside eating and chit chatting. Anyways, within a few minutes, we heard the loudest boom in the sky; nobody knew what it was; for the record, it was over 70 degrees outside and sunny so it was not thunder or lighting. Every one became completely silent and we are started staring at each other. Some people were saying "What the f*ck was that"? Some people decided to go home; me included. I have absolutely no idea what it was but I was spooked in that moment.....

As others said, it may have been a sonic boom

Is your mall near an airbase?

Military jets can produce a sound like a garbage truck falling off a cliff...I don't know the science behind it but it happens
