shareI don’t think it’s that. I think it’s because of human nature. A person being being reprimanded might take it better from an anonymous source, rather than someone who they might already dislike. Likewise, someone might expect preferential treatment from a mod who they feel they already have a good relationship with.

I think it would be better knowing who they are. That is how it works on most forums.
Incognito mods work great here, if everyone knew the identity of our current mods, users would act differently towards them, some would suck up to them seeking favour, whilst others would avoid communication with them.
