Unpopular opinion: music collaborations suck.

Sure there's the odd good song, but mostly it's an artist trying to get more recognition from fans of other artists. Maybe it's the rocker in me because it's rare in rock, but why would an artist want some other artist to come in and add their own style to a track? I listen to Led Zeppelin because I want to listen to Led Zeppelin, I wouldn't want Gene Simmons coming in shittening up the song.

sometimes it works, sometimes its an utter mess. as a zeppelin fan what's your feelings on Geta Van Fleet?

reply

Greta has absolutely no originality. Everything from the vocals, the instrumentation and wardrobe is a Zep ripoff. And I say this acknowledging that Zep have ripped off as well.

reply

100% agreed. I think one of the largest problems was they denied it, even saying they never listened to zeppelin. but after being called out for years they finally admitted it then said "okay sure we did but not get over it and stop talking about it"

just seems kinda shady and I cant respect that.

reply

Not like being influenced by Led Zeppelin is a bad thing.

reply

I agree, in Australia we had a band called Wolfmother about 20 or so years ago that were also just Led Zep/Black Sabbath rip offs. If I want to listen to that type of music which I love, I will go for the originals.

reply

It's like Robert Plant and Brian Johnson had a kid together.

And I Love it!🎸🤘

reply

I can't stand them. Contrived, try hard poseurs.

reply

agreed thanks . tired of people saying "everyone borrows so its okay!" what an obvious contrived ripoff they are. they are a glorified cover band IMO

reply

There's borrowing and making your own sound from those ideas. Then there is just outright stealing where you don't add anything new at all.

reply

they denied even listening to zeppelin for years when people called them out. they finally admitted they borrowed for them and basically said "okay now shut up and stop talking about it".. that's sketchy

Was this for charity? If not, thumbs down.

Coverdale Page?

reply

That's a little different. They released that as an individual album and doesn't count under Zeppelin or Whitesnake discography. Look at what happened when Lou Reed released an album with Metallica in 2011. It was panned and it will now forever be under Lou Reed's discography.

Roger Daltery and Wilko Johnston?

reply

Solid combo. I'll give you that.

Neil Young and Pearl Jam?

reply

I was never a fan of Neil. Pearl Jam is decent.

The Mirror Ball album.

reply

I like early Pearl Jam (first two, really) and I can't stand Neil Young so no thanks.

Never even heard of Girlschool. 6/10 though. Not a fan of New Wave.
