The end of movies

Is anyone else concerned? The future of movies looks bleak. Everything is political now. Forced equality. Also star wars has been destroyed. Kathleen Kennedy is to blame or I am wrong about this entire rant ....thoughts?

99% of what I watch is from the 1930-70s. The movies nowadays aren't good because they aren't good. Bad writing, acting, lack of narrative, talent.

Almost everyone has a camera now, tons of free programs, and anyone can upload their movie on YouTube, so I'm done giving excuses. I've given new movies a ton of chances, and they just aren't good. I'm going to go with the probabilities, as I find it tougher to find a movie I'm interested in that I haven't watched, and I check out movies from every decade, every country, and will even do IMDB searches for movies with under 1,000 thinking they might have been overlooked, lacked attention for whatever reason, and found some good ones, but its not very common. I have about 1,500 on my Watch-list, but many have been duds.

I DISAGREE ON RECENT FILMS...THERE ARE MANY BAD OR MEDIOCRE FILMS,BUT THERE ARE MANY QUALITY FILMS TOO...I THINK IT HAS MORE TO DO WITH THE VIEWERS SENSIBILITIES THAN ANYTHING ELSE...MY GRANDMOTHER INSISTED "GOOD" FILMS STOPPED AFTER THE 50S...MY BEST FRIEND FROM H.S. IS A HISTORY TEACHER NOW,ASK HIM AND HE THINKS THE 80S WERE THE PEAK FOR MOVIES,EVERYTHING BEFORE A BUILDUP AND EVERYTHING AFTER A TRAIL OFF...I PERSONALLY ENJOY FILMS FROM EVERY ERA AND DECADE,FROM THE BEGINNING TO RIGHT NOW...THE BUFFET IS OPEN AND EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS...EVEN IF YOU DONT CARE FOR A PARTICULAR FLAVOR.

i've never watched more new movies than i have the past 4 years, and i've found plenty to enjoy.

my letterboxd account tells me i watched 218 movies from 2017, 193 from 2018, & 124 from 2019, & i found lots and lots to enjoy.

i'm not out to change billhicks' mind. if he doesn't like new stuff, then he's entitled to his preferences.

but i think there are tons of fun, imaginative, weird, trashy films being made, and i never have trouble finding new ones every year that i like just fine.

people are going to want to be told stories, so i don't think films are going to go away.

i could even see this being perhaps a boost for small, independent stuff.

i think it's possible that the theatrical experience could really be diminished, and that could really change the hollywood blockbuster model. (some people might cheer that, but i'm not one of them). but even that might just energize a trend that was already happening with studios pushing their own streaming services & vod packages.

i definitely think this could warp the economics of big budget, large scale productions & how they make their money, but it doesn't necessarily put a stake through their heart.
