Your top 5 Stephen King films?

1. Christine
2. Sleepwalkers
3. 1408
4. Stand by me
5. Storm of the century

Personally, I think King's at his best when his films are serious in tone, as in Christine/Sleepwalkers.

In 1408 and Stand by me, there's a tongue-in-cheek approach (obviously less effective, but it worked for these two).

Storm of the century clearly works if you're in the mood for a 3-hour film.

Anyone see the Nightmares and Dreamscapes series? In the pilot episode they tried to do it as an anthology with zero dialogue, which is an idea that I thought had crazy awesome potential. By episode two they reeled it back to being a (sub-Night Visions tier) normal anthology series. I would LOVE to see a full on dialogue free, abstractionist horror anthology series some day.

It seems to me that it'd be hard to build tension without dialogue. But that's just me.
