While I didn't hate it, the idea that if it continues at #1 for one more week, it will break the all-time record for most weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart is just a travesty imo.

Those Billboard charts have become completely meaningless, IMO, because there's no such thing as Top 40 radio anymore. Everyone's just listening to their own playlists.

I lost interest in the Billboard Hot 100 circa 1989. Before that, I loved top 40 radio.

Yeah, I can't remember the last time I checked out the Billboard charts. I think I stopped caring after Casey Kasem retired from his radio show.

There is a station I tune into sometimes that on weekend mornings plays reruns of Kasem’s 80’s countdowns. I really miss that guy!

i guess i'm one of the olds too, because i'd never heard it or heard of it until now.
i just watched the full video on yt, & thought it was amusing enough. the song lopes along pleasantly.
but it seems odd that it would break any kind of record, doesn't it?
it felt really lacking in any kind of hook or distinctive beat that would make it compulsively re-listenable.
maybe i've turned into grandpa simpson.

It's a shit song. But there's far worse popular songs out there.
