What problem or situation...😨
...did TV or movies make you think might be common, but when you grew up you found out it wasn’t?
I sometimes worried about quicksand. Has anyone here even seen quicksand??

Have you ever been Triple-Dog Dared?
I have not:/
Double dare is as far as I got, and that was a LONG time ago.
shareJeez, never even got one of those
My 'dare' game was pretty lame I guess
I wouldn't say ours was a game. It was more my oldest, more adventurous brother was daring us to try something, like climbing high up a tree. We always wanted to see him do it first. He usually did, but the rest of us chickened out. It looked dangerous and we weren't sure if he had "skills" or was just very lucky.
share"Keep the change"
I actually tried it once because I was in a hurry and the cashier laughed and said "I can't do that."
I use this one at the barber every time
He always keeps the change:)
Cashiers' drawers have to come out right, otherwise they're probably suspected of something shady, even if the till is over rather than short.
shareHere in New York you have to tip everyone...I think the servers, doormen, etc just pocket it, no tills involved
You really cannot skip tipping here...and you need to go overboard if you want good treatment next time😉
Isn't that sort of bribery??
shareIt also seems somehow coercive.
shareIf you live in a building and want your packages delivered you need to pay the maintainance guy every Christmas...it really is expected
The Mailman has his hand out too and he's probably doing as well as I am
I just pony up...Extortion is a major industry here in The Big Apple!
No fighting it
A rare exception would be the premise of a somewhat fun movie I saw recently titled, It Could Happen to You, about a NYC cop who splits a winning lottery ticket with a waitress because he didn't have enough cash on hand at the time to tip her. The actual incident in 1984 it was based on involved a Yonkers cop. Maybe you've heard of it?
shareCage and Fonda!
I have seen that one
Pretty good movie
New York is a ripoff...gotta pay to play
shareCreeper gas station employees that warn you in guarded terms not to visit the old campsite...never met a single one
shareI’ve never had anyone say, “What we should do is......” and then whisper it in my ear, so that nobody else can hear it.
shareThat would feel really awkward...
Suddenly 'what we should do' is a big secret???
Whispering in general is pretty weird really...unless your'e chatting up your better half while the kids are in the room!
I thought Femme Fatales would be a constant source of sexy danger😳
Are addict 'Interventions' even a real thing?
I know a ton of drunks and not one of them had an intervention
The 'Teen make-out spots' were always very safe...crowded, but safe👍
Not a single Serial Killer nor 'Lurking in the Shrubbery Masturbator' to speak of!
Gee, I missed out on the teen make-out spot thing. I always wonder why, if you want to make out, do you go where there's a crowd?
shareThere were always those out of the way spots that the kids knew about and the cops rarely visited...there were always 4 or 5 bouncing, steamy cars lol!
I guess we just went where we knew we wouldn't get busted
Crowds be damned
