Has anyone ever taken their own snacks into the cinema?
Just wondered.
shareI just bought 2 million shares of movie pass in the stock market
shareIf you want to wonder, Andy, “anyone” is singular, not plural; so your headline SHOULD be, “Has Anyone Ever Taken His Or Her Own Snacks Into The Cinena?,” with every word in the headline capitalized, as I infer that you are referring to an English newspaper headline.
shareHi R_Kane, actually it's not a newspaper headline. After years of paying overinflated prices for popcorn and sweets at the cinema, I started taking my own. I thought it might make an interesting question.
shareOnly small stuff I can sneak in my bag, like a packet of M&Ms. I refuse to pay the high prices at the concessions counter.
shareOccasionally.
At one particular cinema in the mall there was a candy shoppe not far from the movie entrance, so I grabbed something there, probably malted milk balls. But this cinema was the cheap theater, $1.50, so I usually didn't mind buying an inexpensive box of whatever.
But normally I eschew eating in the theater. People don't seem to be aware their box noises and wrappers crunching are a distraction. Another theater offered nachos as a snack, and that stuff smells strong and gross. So I do my part by not eating at all. I actually feel better about myself by having the discipline to concentrate on a film for two hours and not feel the need to eat. Have you looked around the US lately? Half the people are fat, even little kids.
And frankly, first run movies have become too expensive and not terribly interesting to me, (Aqua Man, anyone?), so I tend to stay home and watch what ever's on TV.
I don't go to the cinema as much as I used to either.
shareOne of my all-time favorite experiences at the movies: Summer, Los Angeles, over 100 degrees, hating life. I go to see the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie like a 2:00 show in the afternoon. By myself. I snuck in two Budweiser tall boys, sat in the back row, theater maybe 20% full. Loved the movie. (p.s. I was 33, married with kids!)
I pay for the popcorn at the theater cuz I can't make it like that at home. I pay for a soda sometime. I don't think I've ever bought candy.
