Has anyone ever taken their own snacks into the cinema?

Just wondered.

Some folks next to me brought wine, bottle opener, glasses, cheese. They were so smug about too.

I never eat in theaters.

reply

No way! I was thinking more on the lines of a packet of popcorn or something. I'm surprised the people next to you didn't have a picnic hamper tucked away somewhere!

reply

I think it was all was packed in a back pack. It was one of those theaters with the reclining seats. They were clinking glasses and putting their feet up. Their own little party.

reply

I don't know if I'm incensed or jealous!

reply

I seem to remember sneaking a sub into the theatre once. I wouldn't have anything against doing it again, except I never go to theatres.

reply

Yes, popcorn. I've never bought any snacks at the cinema.

reply

of course. soda & candy. my pockets arent big enough for popcorn, though.

"I plead, 'Guilty as charged,' your Honor."

I was visiting this girl up in Baltimore back in the 80's, and I had just bought us some Chinese take-out (which, fortunately, did not include any soup). As we were walking out of the restaurant, she spotted a movie theater across the street and said that we should go watch 'Fatal Attraction.' So I gave her some money to buy the tickets while I went back inside the restaurant to get some plastic forks. I then took off my jacket and draped it over my arm in order to hide the food, walked across the street and we calmly went into the theater and gave our tickets to the ticket taker.

The food tasted pretty good as we ate during the film. However, it must be noted that some meat from the spare ribs got stuck between my teeth. Fortunately, Laura had some dental floss in her purse, so I used that to get it out. The funny thing about that was when I pulled on the floss to get it out from between my teeth, a little bit of the spare rib meat went flying out right into the hair of the woman sitting in front of us. She never had a clue that that had happened, and I sure as hell was not going to tell her. I often wondered if she ever saw it the next time she shampooed her hair.

CKid, you are a very naughty boy.

reply

I used to do that, when I was still in college. Nowadays, I just don't eat anything, only bring a bottle of water.

reply

I do all the time, bottle of water and a small snack like apple or something. The prices are crazy in the cinema for food.

reply

Totally easy in winter, where you can stash a bottle of coke and a full meal in the pockets of the average parka!

It's a little harder in summer, when all you're wearing is shorts and a tank top.

Curse those Summer blockbusters!
