Do you remember the first time you got drunk?

I was 18 and it was at a graduation party, 2017.

reply

I was thirteen and my friend's parents were away. We got stuck into some cask wine and made ourselves truly sick

reply

13?! That's a little young!

reply

What can I say? We were young and stupid with no adults around that night

reply

Yeah I am surprised I lived through it. Basically sampled every booze in my friendโ€™s parents bar. There was red wine, Chivas, Stoli, gin, creme de menthe, grappa, ... all shot down in goblets full. Threw up for hours.

reply

I did something similar..
I was 13 and my parents and brother went to our Aunts on NY's eve..My cousin (our age) wasn't around and my brother was feeling sick and laid down awhile. So I, on my own, kept sneaking into the kitchen where they all had a large stash of everything under the sun...Sherry, cognac, scotch, wine, champagne...and I sampled some of everything.
I got knee walking.
My mother was not amused but everyone else was.
I threw up forever the next day.

reply

I've never been drunk.

reply

Ever wondered if you would enjoy a little tipsyness?

reply

Nah, I don't think I would enjoy being tipsy. If I got drunk, I would probably mouth off to people and get myself into all sorts of trouble. Alcohol doesn't really appeal to me.

reply

You're doing the right thing

reply

same here.

Same as hownos.

reply

Yes. To this day I still can't drink Absolut Vodka.

reply

I've never been drunk in my life. Alcohol just doesn't appeal to me, honestly. I've tried beer a couple times but didn't like it, and only had a little of it even then. I don't judge other people for liking alcohol but I don't understand the appeal of it and I doubt I ever will.

reply

I'm not a beer drinker either. It just doesn't taste that good. I mix liquor with coke usually.

reply

beer makes you fat

reply

That's because beer swells the large intestine, thus producing the rather common "beer belly".

reply

I pride myself in having a flat stomach at age 55. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚

reply

Oh, yeah? You should see my '12-pack' abs (lifts shirt, looks, scowls) nevermind...

reply

๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚

reply

I prefer to protect my awesome abs with a protective flab layer

reply

I try to observe the 'point of diminishing returns' with this, but it's usually a stone or 2 behind reality.

reply

That seems prudent

reply

Not a beer person myself. I can't quiet understand the taste.

reply

Oh the material ! If you remember the first time you got drunk -- you weren't there.
I like to tell people I turned legal twice. Once in '77 when I turned 18, then in the interim Michigan changed the drinking age to 21. Of course, I was drinking lightly since I was 16, and nothing stopped me from drinking before I was 21.
I did get puke-sick when I turned 18 (friends buying me whatever strong drinks they felt like), but I don't remember what happened when I turned 21.

reply

I was in my early 20's, and was at an opening for an exhibit at the school I attended as an undergraduate--my first year there. I drank too much wine (this awful-tasting Rhine wine), and upchucked into a convenient trash barrel. I never did that again, and haven't done it since.

reply

yes, it was the morning after my 1st communion... my aunt and uncle were gone, and my cousins were sleeping, and being bored, I drank a beer.. Then I proceeded to drink whiskey. Years after, I couldn't be around alcohol (and can't again now)

reply

I know the feeling. I could never touch straight gin again. Ergh!!

reply

Nope. Allegedly, I was about 4, someone fell asleep in their chair with a half-depleted can of beer at hand, someone else left the room for 10 seconds, coyote pup was swift and silent. Hic...

First time I remember, I was 16. The whole world took on about a 20-degree list to starboard. That was uproariously entertaining at the time.

40+ years later and the novelty has pretty much worn off. A beer or 2 now & then or a glass of whiskey occasionally is fine.
