It's lonely here.

Nobody talks to me on this site.

Wonder how many lurkers there are thinking the same thing.

Pull yourself together and snap out of it !

I welcomed you when you first arrived here, and we had a nice little chat. A couple of other times after that too, so don't you give me this nobody talks to me here stuff, Missy!

Seriously, you should hang around in GD and participate more often. That seems to be the trick.

reply

I was awful and didn't count initial contact. *blush*

reply

I will.

Tbdh, got emotional over drag queens earlier but I'm doing ok now. :D

reply

Okay then. That's good. So you're a Harry Potter fan?

😎

reply

Not really. I was very much a nay sayer, until there was no choice but to watch all the Harry Potter films. I was surprised I enjoyed them, but not sure how much rewatch value they have for me. I haven't felt the need to see any of them again. Loved Snape, though.

reply

Interesting. I've seen a grand total of one, and that was because it was on the IMDB Top 250 List.

I successfully avoided it for years, until a weak moment one December, when I was all pumped up for something in the fantasy genre (which I usually dislike) and the only thing left was...Harry Potter. I thought it's now or never.

I'd probably never have seen that movie series were it not for actually being in a fantasy mood (for once).

reply

Interesting. What other movies and/or movie genres have you enjoyed?

😎

reply

It'd be a long list of like were I to list movies.

I'm mostly a horror fan. I get nerdy within its sub-genres. I like most genres, though. Except musicals and animated stuff (excluding Batman).

This summer all I wanted to watch was 80's slashers, 70's giallos and exploitation flicks. I'm still in that cycle.

reply

That is an interesting list.

😎

reply

😳

What types of movies do you like?

reply

All types, but my favorites are sci-fi, mysteries, and comedies. But they have to have excellent writing and acting.

😎

reply

Ah! I quite like comedies, it's a tough genre I'd say.

reply

Yes it is because humor is very subjective. For example, most people say that "Seinfeld" was the funniest TV Show ever. I never thought it was funny. Seinfeld himself is funny, but the show was not.

😎

reply

Exactly! It's the she same reason horror is equally as tough. Nothing is universally funny or universally scary.

reply

This is true. Actually nothing is universally anything.

😎

reply

Yeah. But people are much tougher to please comedy and horror-wise. It's too personal, and part of growing up has us squashing fears, and not finding everything funny anymore.

reply

This is true.

I just always felt alone on this site, and when I'd think "ok, time to break into this circle" it was almost like the circle had its own jargon. I guess I felt like there was no place for me.

I don't feel that way now. I totally expected this thread to get no notice, but it showed me that all I really had to do was WAVE MY HANDS AND SAY HIIIIIIIIIII a bit louder than I was. 😊

I've been here a year and a half, after imdb shut down.
