Do you have any phobias?

I admit I'm a bit claustrophobic. I go a bit crazy when I can't get rubber gloves off my hands after doing dishes or working in the garden. Is this a form of claustrophobia? I also have an irrational fear of driving under bridges, especially railroad bridges.

reply

I don't think claustrophobia is an irrational fear strictly speaking. I think it has been handed down to us in the DNA as a fear of being cornered by a predator in a tight place, which is definitely not a good thing. Similarly it is not irrational to be wary of driving under a bridge or flying in an aeroplane for that matter. The rubber gloves one though, I have to admit, is completely nuts..!

I'm afraid of the " Illuminati ". Who isn't...?

reply

It does make sense about the claustrophobia in our DNA. And I readily admit that I'm a bit nuts at times. I don't quite know why I class the rubber gloves thing as claustrophobia though.

reply

Maybe the rubber gloves are associated with a past traumatising experience somehow? I know they are for me...

reply

I doubt many people would find being buried alive pleasant.

reply

Is that a threat...?

reply

Or a treat?

reply

Or a trick ?

reply

I ain't afraid of no Illuminati!

reply

Because:

a) You don't believe it exists
b) You are foolhardy
c) You are in the " Illuminati "

Which of these...?

reply

Claustrobhobia is pretty common
I just watched Crimson Tide with my family tonight...submarine warfare, very close quarters, screw that!

Heights for me!
I gotta pay a bunch of guys to get the leaves out of my roof gutters every year...they just hang over the edge and i watch them...'holy crap dude thats at least 40 feet onto the lawn!'
I seriously dont know how a guy hasnt fallen off of my roof

Also, i think sharks are very scary
I try to avoid the beach

reply

Frogs.
I actually like them, they're cute.
But if I see one whilst gardening, because the little buggers hide in plain sight, I get palpitations, sweaty and feel sick.
I'll often react to dead leaves this way too, simply because I've been tricked by dead leaves that were actually frogs!

reply

LOL!

Do you have a fear of pancakes too?

I think they're kinda cute. Who doesn't like Kermit?? 🐸

reply

I have a periculophobia. It's the fear of taking risks. My son has it too, I guess.

reply

Heights, and moths. Terrified of both.

reply

My wife is terrified of moths...i just dont get it...i like them quite a lot (i think they are cute...like night time butterflies)
I pretend to swat them and act all manly but i mostly just chase them out into the garage area....im in my garage now and i just adore all of the moths

I love the moths

I hate heights though so i get you there

reply

It's weird because butterflies don't bother me. But moths do. I remember being terrified of them from a very early age. I have no idea why. I wonder if one landed on me in the crib or something.

reply

Sounds plausible
Im really not judgemental
I get it dude

reply

I know, I'm just making conversation lol.

reply

i really enjoy your convo Kira...you are very cool and fun (no worries!)
If moths freak you out i suppose i get that...i share a bed with a cute gal that acts like they are tiny demons!
Man, im constantly squishing spiders, moths and Skeeters up here in the woods!
I think you are very cool 👍

reply

Balloons. They make me very nervous.

reply

Fear of heights,go figure😉

❤️️
Here's a list of things I can't handle...
Heights
Spiders
Centipedes
Close spaces
Seeing a needle pierce skin.( I look away when I get a shot. I look away when I see it in a movie or TV show. )
Tight clothing
Dirty/untidy surroundings. (when things are out of order I get tense and irritable. OCD? Maybe, but I like an orderly life. )

Edit: Just thought of something else. Restaurants are really beginning to be a turn off. They have to be clean. Just the thought of eating in one makes my skin crawl. I want to see the kitchen. Is it clean? how do they prepare my food? How do they store it?
Nope! I'd sooner eat at home where I know the conditions and how it's cooked.
I know! I know! I'm moving from phobia into ????? The Twilight Zone? LOL!
