Ever had a day in your life...

...where you didn't see nor speak to another human being? (watching videos of people online don't count as having seen someone)
An entire day where you were all by yourself. I can recount one occasion where I have.

reply

Not that I recall.

It would probably be quite nice for a while.

reply

It is very peaceful.

reply

Yes. I have had blocks of days which constituted not seeing anyone but myself in the mirror on a few occasions.

It has its pluses and its downsides.

reply

What were those pluses and downsides for you?

reply

The pluses are you can be whoever you wish to be unchallenged, hold any opinions you want and explore who you are underneath all the trappings that society insists upon you conforming to.

Downsides are arguing openly with oneself, finding parts of yourself which are ugly and being hungry for fresh content generated by another's mind.

I'd recommend everyone take a week or two out of their lives occasionally to have an otium with themselves.

Refreshing to say the least.

reply

On daily basis,even at work

reply

It must be a quiet job.

reply

Actually it's a very noisy job

reply

2-3 days per week, unless you count Moviechatting.

reply

Yes!
Last year my wife took the kids to visit her family in Florida for a couple of days (i had stuff to do in New York and i dont like Florida...)

I put in a cache of scotch and smokes and rewatched about 20 episodes of Game of Thrones

It was great while it lasted!

reply

Sounds like paradise!

reply

Indeed!
Total silence but for the sound of Glenfiddich pouring out over ice and swordplay on the boobtube

Eden!

reply

I'd say most days.

But I'm usually so busy I never even process that I haven't had physical contact with another human that day. It doesn't bother me.

reply

Pretty much everyday 5 days out of the week. Work, go home, repeat the next day.. It's pretty much the lifestyle for millions of people nowadays. Nothing uncommon about it.

reply

At least like 20. I love those days, don't get them much anymore. I love to be by myself and I go crazy when I don't have alone time. I tell my boyfriend I want to have a day to myself on an occasional off-day, and if I end up playing Skyrim all day, I don't see or speak to anyone. Sometimes I won't speak to NPCs in game either, just go out mining ore and collecting fox pelts. It's been a while since I've had a no contact day, because I usually go for walks or to the gym, and then I see and/or speak to people.
