Do you prefer Practical FX or CGI?
Personally I prefer an equal balance in a movie π₯
shareI am grateful that it blends in for me. Half the time, when I find out something was CGI, I am amazed at how realistic it looks. Then again, before CGI, everything was done with matte paintings. When I discovered that concept, I was watching Indiana Jones movies closely.
shareWell, capcom made some pretty good cgi movies, but i prefer a mix between them in a movie

Practical FX. I'm old skol. Practical effects are harder to pull off. Thus they leave often you wondering "How did they do that?" With CGI you simply shrug and think "CGI".

Depends how well either is done. The transformation scene in An American Werewolf in London still holds up today along with Carpenters The Thing.
I thought the CGI in the War of the Worlds was pretty decent (remake obviously)
It depends on the film. I mostly watch horror films and cgi in them is mostly pure shit and has kinda fucked with the genre... but good cgi is pretty awesome in stuff like superhero movies.
shareCGI all the way. The best CGI I ever saw was in Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus. Whoever came up with those graphical representations is going to make it in the industry, for sure.
shareWhat do you think about resident evil cgi movies, have you seen those?
shareYes, and I liked the first couple, but then after that it began to become ridiculous. I mean the concept, not the cgi.
By the way, my other post was a joke, if you actually saw the movie I referenced, you'd know there's no way I pick cgi over practical fx.
Yeah,i realize that it was a joke, anyway the third cgi movie will come next month, but i would like to be an cgi with claire and jill, instead of leon and chris.
shareI didn't realize that Resident Evil cgi was different from the other Resident Evil movies until I just looked it up. I haven't seen any of those, but they remind me of that Final Fantasy movie that came out about 15 years ago. That was some pretty incredible cgi, especially for that time. So, I imagine that these movies will be pretty good. Have you seen them? Are they any good?
shareYou mean the RE cgi or final.fantasy?
shareYes ,i've seen the re cgi movies, they're not great but still fun to watch,i didn't like that the cgi movies are focused on leon s. kennedy as main hero,i mean these movies are a guy thing, like i said i would love to see claire, jill and even ada as main charactersπ
shareI've only seen the first Final Fantasy movie. I don't know how the cgi were in any later movies.
