Last movie you have seen in a theater

I haven't been to a movie theater since 2012. I like staying home with the big screen TV. Netflix and HBO keeps me busy. Of course I am always a year or so behind the latest movies. I recently watched Spotlight/The Martian/The Revenant at home.

Last movie seen in a theater: Taken 2.

Rogue one. I go to the movies a few times a year. I prefer watching movies home alone with the big screen tv. But I do like watching the 'big' movies at the theater. I plan on seeing Kong next.

The Sixth Sense.......
Just shows you how long it's been for me.

reply

I thought I was bad going 5 years. lol.

I think I just like staying home and watching films on our big screen tv. It's less expensive. you can pause for potty breaks or your own concessions and not miss a thing. I also just like the comfort of my own home.
There's so much to choose from now too. You can pop in a DVD or you can stream just about anything. I really don't need the theater experience.

reply

I'm with you, same situation here.

Last movie I saw in the cinema was Prometheus. I gave up afterwards :)

reply

Yeah, but when You expect a movie to go online ,IT usually get a CAM version of it,and IT sucks,a shaggy hand, bad filming of someone in theatre with a mobile device, for example RE 6 online version

Logan, Underworld and Res Evil are what i've watched so far this year. Next up: Fast, Guardians, Pirates and Planet of the Apes. Huh..... I guess i'm seeing nothing but sequels this year. That's funny. I'm part of the problem!

Anyhow, there's a lot to be said for being behind in movies. The thing is, once you get behind, everything comes out on the same release schedule, just later. So you still cruise right along. It's kind of nice if you're patient and don't mind spoilers. I lived that way for years.

reply

Haha, we're all part of the problem, TandyMan!

reply

Before I Fall. Overall, Logan may be biggest but it's not playing where I am so by default that Mean Groundhogs (get it?) movie won.

"Get On Up" - The James Brown Biopic.

My GF at the time wanted to see it. Was a good movie. Not usually the kind of movie I'd watch in the theatre (I'd wait for it to be on TV or a movie network) but I don't regret paying for it. Decent enough way to spend a couple of hours.

reply

chadwick boseman was more oscar worthy as james brown than david oyelowo was as MLK

reply

Agreed. I remember walking out of the movie after it was over and remarking to my GF that the best compliment I could give him was that I forgot that it was an actor PLAYING James Brown and 100% started seeing it as James Brown himself.

reply

your GF had good taste

reply

I just noticed it is on Netflix. I just might watch it.

reply

OMG! I went to see it alone. I could not control my dancing feet! I got up in the aisle and danced like a crazy person. There were still people in the theatre at the end so they were watching and said basically " you go!"

Something happens to me when I hear "The Godfather", I MUST DANCE.

Technically I saw Moana in my college's theater the most recently.

But for an actual theater, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

reply

Your college has its own theater? That's amazing!

reply

It's a one screen thing that can seat maybe a hundred people. It's nice but nothing really impressive.

reply

Still cool. You get to see the movies while they're still in theaters, though? Like before they get released on DVD/Bluray?

reply

I'm not really sure. The few times I've gone in there the movies have been months after their theatrical release but not on DVD/Blu-Ray yet. Moana was in there at the tail end of January (or early February, I don't remember) and just came out yesterday.

But it's free, so, kind of an even exchange for the wait. I imagine it's best for movies where you think they look kind of interesting but you aren't hugely into it so you can stand waiting a bit longer.

reply

Ah, that makes sense. I wish my college had that... but mine is just a small Christian college that doesn't actually care what religion you are.
