I mean with the original cast, writing, etc. Not a remake or reboot.

The original series ended in 1999, but they did do a special episode in 2016 and I think it proved that the show has enough potential to come back.
Especially since the 2016 special episode took the show in a new direction that I think would make for an interesting series and keep things fresh and not just beating a dead horse with a stick.
It’s just a shame in my opinion the BBC passed on making it a full series.

Does anyone remember a show called American Gothic? Not the recent show on CBS with that title. It was on in the '90s(?) and Gary Cole and Lucas Black were in it. I loved it and I don't think it even had a second season. I wish Deadwood had continued. It was so good.

Carnivale
I've seen Carnivale brought up a couple times in this thread and that makes me very happy. That show was so good and had such promise in terms of telling this really intense, mythological story....I so wish we could've seen that through!
shareOh for sure. The writer had the whole story mapped out and it would have gone on for at least 4 or 5 seasons according to him. The network deciding to not renew for a season 3 while they were shooting Season 2 really made them do a rush job in the finale.
shareSuch a shame what they did to that cast and crew...and what has always pissed me off even more about it is that that show came on right at the cusp of this new (and arguably better) age of tv. I think if it had premiered pretty much any time after really had it would've been, if not a bigger hit, around a while longer.
It's just such a, "what could have been?!" I still go back and rewatch it from time to time even though it always bums me out by the end all over again, lol
Yes, what could have been! It's such a shame. I also feel sorry for the actors and people involved. They had such a great show and story and then suddenly puffff, ...all gone!
I also rewatch some episodes time to time because I just love the atmosphere they convey and love the characters. Such great period setting! Turn of the century Carnivale + the supernatural+ the struggle between Good and Evil....what's not to love?
BTW what's your favourite episode? One of mine has to be Babylon. Oh and Samson is my favourite character. Actually, I have a soft spot for most of the characters, but Samson alone deserved several more seasons imo. Michael J Anderson was wonderful in the role.
I also quite like Babylon and it's companion piece, which I'm forgetting the name of. Those two episodes are some of the most haunting episodes tv has ever had, in my opinion. It's pretty devastating stuff, but obviously incredibly effective.
I also thought the death mask one (forgive for forgetting titles, I know a large part of them were place names) was very creepy too. This show did that well, hah, good at that unsettling feeling.
Michael J. Anderson owned that role, in fact all those actors were seriously committed to their characters. Clancy Brown as Brother Justin was also a total tour de force in terms of performance. If only we could've seen them given more time *shakes fist*
I think the episode you refer to is 'Creed' or something like that. Yeah that was a great episode.
You know at first I thought maybe Father Justin was 'good', but oh boy was I wrong. Wasn't he actually really Lucifer? Clancy Brown nailed it as Brother Justin, as you say, a tour de force in terms of performance. There were just so many great actors in that show. I'll never understand why they axed it. *shakes fist* lol.
