The hypocrisy that follows mass shootings

Everyone gets into an uproar. "We have to do something now to prevent this from happening again!" is that everyone cries. "There have to have been signs that this would happen", we often hear.

This shit happens every day. Every day actual criminals are released from jail or police custody, only to go on and cause more carnage. Where's the uproar over the daily atrocities??? Yesterday my wife and I watched a show about three teenage thugs who were arrested for a crime they committed and then released. They then proceeded to rob a couple at gun point and steal their Cadillac Escalade, because they wanted it. Then they rolled up to a gas station because one of them spotted a Mustang they wanted to steal. They held the young couple at gun point but had to abandon their plan to steal the car because it had a manual transmission. The hood rat couldn't drive it so they shot the couple right there in the parking lot, killing them both. Where's the uproar over this sort of thing, it happens all the time? There is none.

Why? Because people are easily distracted and need something sensational to get their attention. The media covers these mass shootings way out of proportion to other crimes and perpetuates the call for more gun control. Because liberal policies are what creates these little bastards in the first place. Liberal policies that are soft on crime is what allows them back onto the streets after committing felonies. It's only gotten worse with the calls to defund the police. In some jurisdictions, they are not even prosecuting people for obvious crimes. Where's the uproar over that?

Where's the uproar over that?

What?

Please return to elementary school to work on your reading comprehension.

" Liberal policies that are soft on crime is what allows them back onto the streets after committing felonies."

Pretty sure the 8th Amendment is why they are back on the streets, as a Life sentence for all felonies would probably be deemed unconstitutional.

reply

Really, the 8th Amendment is why prosecutors are not prosecuting crime??? I'm not talking about after time served. I'm talking about police releasing people without a criminal charge.

reply

How does keeping career criminals behind bars violate the 8th Amendment?

”Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

Hardened criminals are being released which results in them committing more crimes. How many times do we hear about someone committing a horrific crime only to find s/he has a rap sheet a mile long!

reply

You commit a crime and get a sentence and unless that sentence is life, you are eventually going to get out of prison. I'm honestly unsure what your trying to argue should happen here.

Commit a crime and never be released?

reply

If it’s horrendous, yes. If it’s 3 felonies, yes, except for murder and crimes against children which would be 1 felony. I once heard a detective say at the scene of a murder “Whoever committed this crime is already in the system.”

reply

"If it’s horrendous, yes. If it’s 3 felonies, yes, except for murder and crimes against children which would be 1 felony."

That's basically the system we already have. Half the states already have 3 strikes laws and some crimes against children do carry life sentences.

reply

But, a very high percentage of those arrested have a long rap sheet. They shouldn’t have been on the street. There are so many murders committed by sub-humans which wouldn’t have been done if the murderer had been locked away for prior crimes. Criminals escalate their dastardly deeds.

reply

"But, a very high percentage of those arrested have a long rap sheet. They shouldn’t have been on the street."

Again, you can't really say someone shouldn't have been on the street, if they went to prison and served their time. Short of making prison sentences insanely longer, or actually make the US prison system about rehabilitation and reducing recidivism(more money) instead of being purely punitive, there isn't much to be done about career criminals getting out and going right back in for the same stupid shit.

reply

That high percentage should be locked away forever. So many may serve time, but then when released they harm others. How many assaults/murders does it take before you say enough! Lock them up and throw away the key! Prison wasn’t meant for rehabilitation. It’s purpose is for punishment and to keep those who cause murder & mayhem behind bars.

For example George Floyd should have been in prison. He was a no-account thug! He probably would still be breathing air.

reply

More crazy GQP propaganda.

reply

It's the truth. Liberals are so self righteous, they never entertain the possibility that they might have failed.

reply

It’s Faux News propaganda. It’s insane.

reply

Another intelligent reply! BTW, your village is looking for you! 🙄

reply

Has nothing to do with Fox News. Just because you're brainwashed by CNN, don't assume the rest of us need to be told what to think.

reply

Well, your reply is intelligent. NOT! 🙄

reply

So the fact that criminals being released with no bail and going out and committing the same crimes and worse is propaganda?

reply

If you've been arrested and are getting bail, it only means you've been accused of a crime, it doesn't mean they're guilty

reply

Enjoy swimming in the biggest river in the world.

chilone wrote “released with no bail”. In other words the one arrested with a long rap sheet is being released without posting bail. Just as VP Harris set up a fund for the thugs arrested during the 2020 riots. Without a doubt everyone of those pos had prior arrests!
