Wy do we "need" black and brown pilots?

https://news.yahoo.com/program-exposes-black-brown-youth-174014985.html

I was watching CBS Saturday Morning, as I often do, and they did a piece on this guy and organization. It was an inoffensive piece about a good thing until those dreaded words were spoken. A pilot said something like, "We need more black pilots." Then another guy - the guy this article is about - said, that he once saw pilots that " looked like me" and that inspired him to create his organization.

Why do we need black and brown pilots? Do they treat passengers differently when they know they "look like me"? When did "look like me" become the main criteria for doing something? That's not equality, it's favoritism. Borderline superiority. Why is it necessary a pilot be a certain race or color?

reply

Actually we need less of them because they get hired due to affirmative action and are thus less competent. Liberals are endangering the flight safety of millions of people.

reply

We need colorblind pilots.

TERRIBLE POST...FOLLOWED BY NUMEROUS DICKBAGS EMBARRASSING THEMSELVES WITH THEIR CREEPY LITTLE OPINIONS.

reply

You can't come up with a single valid reason for "needing" pilots based on race, so you attack people and not their arguments. It's called an ad hominem attack.

reply

LMAO...WHATEVER YOU SAY,DICKBAG.

reply

*laughs in you proved my point*

reply

Do you really think you win an argument like that? Or do you just make everyone think that in fact, YOU are the dickbag?

reply

WHAT ARGUMENT...LMAO...EVERYONE HERE HAS THEIR MINDS MADE UP 100% WITH NO ROOM FOR THOUGHT...NO ARGUMENTS TAKE PLACE HERE...ONLY VARYING LEVELS OF BULLSHIT AND DICKBAG FLAVOR.

reply

HAHAHA what a dumbass.

reply

What I don't get is why do you need to have someone look like you in order to be inspired by something? Are they so insecure of themselves of their talent/skill? Everything is almost about race to them. Why can't they just be themselves and be inspired by that persons talent/skill other than the color of their skin? Talk about warped thinking. Oh I need a black Superman to be inspired about being a superhero (eye roll). Tiger Woods got me into golfing but it wasn't because he was black.

reply

You don't. It's tribalism. One of the dumbest ways to form opinions, rationalize beliefs, etc. It's based on nothing more than race or gender.

I'm sure, like me, you remember as a kid being told the exact opposite: that we shouldn't judge or exclude someone for NOT looking like us. I never cared that the Cosbys, Winslows, or Apollo Creed (once he became friends with Rocky) were black.

reply

I think it's because people get a sense of comfort when there are others like them around.

But I agree black people are not held back "by the man" as much as they claim. A lot of it comes from a lack of education in black communities.

reply

Access to education is more than available but culturally it's not valued by blacks like it is whites.

reply

The access is there, but the lack of tax dollars going to them often makes them not worth going to. Which is why some black parents have to illegally send their kids to another school district just to get a real education.

reply

Ok that sucks.
