Walmart, Costco and Trader Joe’s are dropping mask requirement for vaccinated people

People who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer be required to wear face masks at Walmart, Costco and Trader Joe’s, the companies announced Friday.

Trader Joe’s became the first major retailer to update its guidance to allow vaccinated customers to go unmasked in its grocery stores Friday afternoon. Walmart and Costco followed and dropped their masks rules as of Friday evening.

The change comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday that people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 “can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or physical distancing,” with some exceptions including while traveling on planes, buses and trains.

It looks like that some things are getting back to normal.

dementia Joe covid passports will be a thing in a few years, trust me...

reply

The wholesale club said it won’t ask for proof of vaccination but are asking shoppers to be “responsible and respectful [in] cooperation with this revised policy.”

So if I self test every week and have a hard copy in my email...that should be good enough.

reply

Kroger has announced that masks will still be required in their stores - it just might make me go to Walmart to shop.

(And I have been fully vaccinated and have always complied with mask requirements)

reply

I feel sorry for the employees.

reply

Why?

reply

1. Vaccines aren't 100% effective.
2. Employees are exposed to large numbers of people everyday.
3. Employees will be exposed to maskless people everyday in very close contact.
4. The CDC will no longer count vaccinated people who become sick unless they're hospitalized or die. That sounds like manipulation of the statistics to me.

reply

they did manipulate the data, it started shortly after dementia Joe took control of America. they changed the criteria of reporting for people the died of covid. which is why the covid death rate dropped dramatically after Jan 20. google covid deaths and you can see a graph charting how many people died. there is a huge drop around Feb 20. I have always been suspicious that every city and hospital in America accurately reported covid deaths every day. anyways I am glad we agree on something...

reply

How was reporting changed? Do you have a link?

The huge drop in infection rate, deaths and hospitalizations were to be expected as older Americans were being immunized at that time.

No need to politicize a health crisis. We've lost close to 600,000 of our fellow Americans because of it.

Approximately 375,000 deaths during 2020 were attributed to COVID-19 on death certificates reported to CDC (1). Concerns have been raised that some deaths are being improperly attributed to COVID-19 (2). Analysis of International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) diagnoses on official death certificates might provide an expedient and efficient method to demonstrate whether reported COVID-19 deaths are being overestimated.

that means 200,000 died under the failed leadership of dementia Joe.

says the person that gloated when Trump got covid,

and you dont post anymore anyways, since you have nothing good to say about dementia Joe.

"they changed the criteria of reporting for people the died of covid. which is why the covid death rate dropped dramatically after Jan 20."

You're contradicting yourself. You're complaining about why the stats went down with Biden, but your links explain why they would be too high.

Anyway, I agree with counting a cancer patient with covid as a covid death if they died from covid symptoms like oxygen deprivation. Doctors know the difference.

There have been covid-related deaths not counted. They never had covid, but died at home from heart attacks rather than risk going to a hospital filled with covid patients. I know of two cancer patients who died because their treatments were canceled during the crisis.

You miss me? I'm flattered.

you just posted this?

they went down because dementia Joe changed the criteria for reporting covid deaths. its that simple.

its manipulation of the data.

Damn! Keelai, the know all, see all wizard yelled from the roof tops Trump murdered 500,000 people! Keelai knew more than the scientists, the CDC, even Lord Fauchi when s/he stated Trump MURDERED 500,000!

S/he will choke to death before agreeing with the following from the CDC!

”During 2020, approximately 375,000 U.S. deaths were attributed to COVID-19.”

So at what point do you feel stores should not require masks as we all know Covid will probably be with us forever?

reply

My opinion is irrelevant since I'm not a scientist.

But, Dr. Fauci said to wait until the daily infection rate is at 10,000 before making changes in mask-wearing. It's above 30,000.

reply

Fauci also said vaccinated people don't need to wear a mask inside unless there is a high concentration of people. I never shop when the grocery is busy, so as a full vaccinated person, I should be able to go inside w/o a mask.

Look, I will wear a mask where required, but I would think there are many more shoppers in a WM at one time than at Kroger, yet WM is saying, "no masks, if vaccinated", and Kroger, Target, and others are still requiring masks. (And I do think individual businesses have the right to set their own rules, but I also have the right to go someplace else if I don't agree.)

reply

My point is that store employees are dealing with crowds. I wasn't talking about customers.

Were you vaccinated?

reply

What happened to following the science? The CDC is recommending this.

reply

Based on which study? Link please.

reply

Why are you pretending you don't know the CDC updated their guidelines?

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html

reply

I don't follow anyone blindly like you do.

I've been reading the research reports from different medical and scientific sources since day one. I'd like to read the medical data which has lead to the CDC decision.

reply

Oh have you, now? These sources that say the new CDC guidelines are wrong would be who?

reply

1. The CDC data is not up-to-date.

2. The U.S. has NOT reached herd immunity.

3. The CDC recommendation is based on the honor system. In other words, only fully vaccinated persons are supposed to remove their mask. We all know that plenty of people who are NOT VACCINATED will remove their mask, too. Therefore, my mask stays on until we have herd immunity or we reached 10,000 or fewer cases a day.

reply

I' not seeing any sources here. You indicated you know things that the CDC is wrong.

reply

We all know that the CDC is a political organization, not a medical one. Fauci is just as much a political figure head as the CDC.

I know there are "fake" studies out there, where they basically just vaccinated a bunch of people and said "these people didn't catch or spread COVID-19 therefore vaccinated people can't catch or spread COVID-19." But as to actually exposing someone who was vaccinated to COVID-19 and seeing if they're physically capable of spreading the disease? No one wants to do what they already know the results of.

We know that this vaccine doesn't offer the same style immunity as the measles vaccines do, (the vaccine just prevents you from getting serious COVID or hospitalized COVID.) We also know that we're in danger of losing our measles herd immunity (which needs to be around 90% I believe)... so anyone who is half educated should recognize that we're being lied to because big business is using political pressure to get us to open up sooner than is safe.

reply

My local leader (vaccinated) cheered about how it's OK to remove the masks if vaccinated while sitting 6 feet away from others who still wore their masks in his presence.

The studies I read were based on vaccinated medical staff who were wearing masks. Nobody is addressing what happens when vaccinated people remove their masks and stop social distancing.

Their new plan may be to get people sick to arrive at herd immunity since the illness will be less severe.

reply

The CDC is now fake news per the rules of woke.

reply

How are they determining who is vaccinated and who is not? Are they doing some passport/license verification or something?

reply

The vaxxed should wear their vax card on their shoulder. This way, they can identify each other, and virtue signal at the same time. It's Brilliant!

reply

Harris county here in Texas says they are communist to the end and we have to wear a mask anyway.

reply

>> It looks like that some things are getting back to normal.

Yeah, stupid poor people going to Walmart ... normal.

reply

Trader Joe's isn't exactly the "stupid poor people" demographic, yet they are dropping the mask requirement.

reply

Trader Joe's isn't Whole Foods by a long shot. I see mostly penny pinchers there looking for their weirdo special deal sales.

reply

Who said anything about Whole Foods?

I doubt the majority of WM shoppers go to Trader Joes - it may not be WF or Fresh Market, but it isn't WM either.

reply

This could be dangerous. I know someone who is an anti-Vaxxer and has already said she will not wear her mask if the Vaxed people don't have to.

reply

Of course! And the vaccines are not 100% effective - especially the Johnson one.

Let Fauci and Biden walk around without a mask on a crowded sidewalk or in a store first.
