Well, if you go by that logic, in that case Serone should have died too, twice in fact. Because in my opinion, the blow with the golf club of iron that could easely killed him or at least fracture his skull and cause serious injuries. Likewise when Serone is given an apparently strong animal tranquilizer by Cale and Danny finishes it off with an elbow to his face, causing Serone to fall into the river. Serone could have drowned there, just because he was (in reality, at least would have been and I know this was just a movie thing) in a pretty confused state after the sedative and the blow. But yes the movie, the plot etc and because the bad guy in the movie couldn't be killed yet. And I know what part of the movie you mean, I've seen the movie so many times I know it by heart. Almost even the lines. :D But since I like the actor (Jonathan Hyde) who played Westridge, I want to believe that Westridge survived after all. That maybe even those Shirishamas saved him, as someone once suggested in these discussions a long time ago, and from which I myself got the idea to make a fanfic, which is actually also a bit like a sequel to Anaconda. :) Possible spoiler, read at your own risk... I was and still am angry and disappointed about what they did to Strickler and Barbara. I am extremely angry at the moron who thought it was a good idea to kill one of the couple just after they had gotten engaged. I only watched this movie once and had pretty high expectations for it and then the whole movie was a big disappointment. Visually good and of course the voice actors did an absolutely fantastic job, so no complaints there. The only minus is the bloody awful script. Somehow it feels as if someone on the scriptwriting team or something hates the union of Barbara and Strickler. I think it would have been good to leave Strickler alive. Even if injured, but alive, so that he and Barbara could have been together. Plus it would have been a good moment to show that despite their differences, still two such different beings can be together. In this case, a changeling stuck in his troll form and a human female. That love doesn't look at the outside, it's what's inside that counts. And now I don't want to hear a word about incompatibilities between species. This series and the film are a fantasy where anything is possible. So you can kindly leave the scientific side out of it, it just doesn't fit into this fantasy story at all. The ending was pretty poorly conceived too. Nothing really ends. Also, I wanted the troll weddings for Strickler and Barbara. They would have finally deserved it, as well as the kiss they were never given. But of course I also missed something for Jim and Claire. An engagement party, for example. The film, or mini-series, or whatever you want to call it, is a really bad, cheap version and a complete piece of shit. And some of the actors were really lousy and did their roles badly. But some, like McDowell, Callow and Hyde did their roles well (they are professionals and I give them a big plus for that), although there were obvious excesses. But there were also a few times when they weren't quite serious about what they were doing. But Casper again. Somehow I didn't like his character, who was too arrogant for my taste and seemed to imagine too much of himself. And besides, he was just a cheap copy of Indiana Jones and Rick O'Connell. Which didn't even work properly. Hyde as the bad guy again. Well, maybe not the best performance from him, but it wasn't the worst. But I would guess that it also had something to do with the fact that the movie was a relatively cheap piece of crap, which doesn't tempt you to do your best. But on the other hand, he still did his part with a professional touch, and his character (okay I'm biased because I'm big fan of his) didn't seem all that arrogant, even if he was the bad guy of the movie. But even if the movie is a piece of shit, it's still worth watching. It still has some entertainment and humour value. You can't call it horror or scary in any way. I agree, he does get the best lines and is exellent actor. :D Neither did I until I checked it out on his IMDB. Although that was a very long time ago (and IMDb was very new thing back then), as I've been a fan of his since 1997. At least around that time I noticed him and associated him with more films and series, especially the bigger films (Riku the Rich, Jumanji (double role), Anaconda, Bliss, Titanic, Inspector Frost, Midsummer Murders etc) which he did several in a row in the late 1990s. I just connected the dots and something about him now just makes him a great person in my eyes. Did you also know that he is married to opera singer Isobel Buchanan and that they have two daughters, one of whom, Georgia King is also an actress. All this can be read in Mr Hyde's IMDB data. :) And here seems to be another possible candidate to start the idea. But apparently there are probably more supporters of this idea, which I’m happy about. For clearly, I’m not the only one annoyed that Westridge was killed in the film. So kind of Westridge (or Jonathan Hyde) Fan Club? :D But yeah, I made Anaconda Fanfic, where Westridge really survives (though not without injuries) and ends up in the care of the Shirishams and later stays with them. For a couple of decades. :) Hmm, I feeling that you might be the one whom I got the idea to write Anaconda Fanfic, where Westridge really survives and ends up in the care of the Shirishams. Admittedly, I added a dose of romance to it myself, because in my story he stayed in the jungle, with Shirishama tribe, for a couple of decades. And of course he is not alone during that time, but finds love and has a daughter with this Shirishama woman, who has became his loving wife. In addition, the rest of the team will return, although Terri and Cale are together, married. At least in my story, Danny is more or less single because I didn’t really know if the character was dating anyone or not. But I can always change that too. Oh yeah, and besides, in my story, Terri and Calel has a son, Alejandro. Who is adult already, at that point when they decide to return to the river, though not of their own free will, but a little forced. Not prisoners, though. Oh and the gigantic Anaconda is back too. :D So thank you for your what-if idea. :) I can try to put a piece of the story here, but I have to translate it into English first, because English is not my home language. Edit... typos. Sorry. Mine too. I think he just stole the whole movie. :D Definitely Van Pelt. Because I like the actor and because he played a double role in that movie (and later 360 theater's Peter Pan play). :D I fully agree. Personally, though, I would have killed Cale because he’s lying on almost half of the movie in his cabin, a hole in his throat. While others try to get rid of the psychopathic poacher (Serone) and the giant snake. Also, I think Westridge seems to be the only one who changes the most during the film. For in the beginning, he is a annoying, strenuous, sophisticated snob. But as a few of you have already mentioned, by the end he will become a hero. And besides, once Serone survives a damn (metallic) golf club blow (I think that blow is so powerful that it could actually have killed. Of course, the film and the plot and you just can't kill the bad guy just yet) and later he surviver a sedative for animals, a blow to his face (by Danny) and a fall into the river, so also Westridge has a great chance of surviving by that logic. I think there was a discussion about this long time ago in IMDb as well, and someone put a pretty great what-if idea there. Of course, I grabbed it and let go of the mites for a while and came to write an Anaconda fanfic where Westridge survives and Cale, Danny and Terry come back in about a couple of decades and find Westridge, who is living with Shirishamas. Of course, I will gladly give Credits to the person who brought up this idea. The movie, well was not very good, but not bad either and most of the actors (yeah I'm very biased) did their job one hundred percent perfectly. The one who did not do their job properly was the one who cut the movie. I mean an upside-down gravity defying waterfall. That is pretty bad, albeit a very funny mistake. View all replies >
