You just expressed perfectly the murky theory in my mind regarding the two girls. Thank You! Yep. She forces the issue constantly. To Nick (in the movie), that’s perhaps another intangible “weather front” that begins suppressing his luck/instincts. And if he believes that, then it’s true to him. This characterization of Fanny wants all the way into all things Nick Arnstein. Good point. Good point. I thought it was too bad that such a great moment was wasted in this movie. Because it really was just perfect; the lighting on the face, the focus, the Johnny Cash song, and he shrugged right into it. Complete Mephistophelian vibe. So many plots, that would have been a great tense buildup to some incredible con or heist…something. I’m not a Dane Cook fan, meaning the usual routine connected with him, but he disappeared into the role for a moment, and I thought: “This could be one of those classic clips every one recognizes” It took me by surprise in a movie that had me cringing at too many moments. The friend-zoning was a little bit too stalkerish for me. The Silver Elvis Suits that Busey and his team are wearing don’t help, either. I happened to switch this on just now and when Danny Glover sees Gary Busey for the first time I swear Glover’s face freezes and he manages not to laugh, but he’s skeptical; I can’t blame him! Then I look at their helmets as they’re about to go in and I swear it looks like they just took some aluminum foil and crumpled it up and made that to be the balaclava/skin barrier. Yeah, things could’ve been done differently. Oh more people should have seen this!!! There’s also this: The uncle was very clear that he didn’t want to be disturbed by the children. The things we hold important in business are lost and forgotten 98% of the time. I surely did not expect or want COVID-19 to come along. But when it did and we started re-assessing our priorities, I hoped we would continue. I guess it’s going to take a solar flare storm or something like that. We sure aren’t the smartest creatures on the planet. As I remember, the ‘star’ prospect was really talented at swaggering in front of everyone else and diminishing their expectations; there was a hint of passive/situational prejudice in the plot; also, the pitcher’s mom was wisely insisting on “schoolwork first”. So the pitcher went unnoticed. He wasn’t playing on the team. I also felt it wasn’t that much of a stretch. View all replies >
