This movie does not take place outside of America for that reason. The film has some direct connections to Suicide Room, another great movie by Jan Komasa. It's obvious I liked the coldness and visceral tone this director has shown so far. I might check his other recent movies after finishing this...
These type of things are the reason I often wonder if they really are living another realm of the law. Do they also face complete different social consequenses for their acts? There are so many celebrities with stories like this one!
Those 'people' that draw that fanart are probably under 21 yo. Those are not adults by today's standards.
The problem with LK is that it was publicized as "new and *original*" by Disney's own spokepeople. In fact, it was called "the first all-original Disney film".
This is Kimba's American Dub producer's take on the matter (he's American):

In that same channel you can find two well-produced videos comparing the story and art of both products. Very nice videos tbh, not some random youtube amateur.
People who say what you do haven't actually seen the character comparison. They are the same animals and have the same role in LK. These are not 'crazy coincidences'. No wonder people in Japan don't like the Lion King at all, they are polite about it but treat that as a disgrace and something uncomfortable to talk about.
Yeah. she was so confident and good-natured. She also had that quirky way of speaking... She was definitely the dream girlfriend to have during highschool!
Yes, he was a weirdo. He was also resentful due to being poor. What happened to him was no surprise though. He standed out in a bad way. Plus everybody was so violent in this film, just like during my teenage years. Lol.
A pretty straightforward film. But I liked it. There was enough good acting and nice cinematography to keep the viewer interested.
I forgot to add... sometimes I see bullies from my past on the street. I live in a fairly big city so I can have my own life away from them, but there are not many places to go out here, so they appear. Some people get out of their hometown and try to forget what happened. I think you should make peace with your past instead of burying it for years. It is way healthier.
Imagine if I hadn't. I would have recurrent PTSD every time I see one of those entitled assholes.
There are many guys like that all around the world. I think if he made you guys feel uncomfortable and was persistent, he WAS a bully. Even if some of you guys could beat him up on occassion. Its cool you reflect on that. He was a sad individual and I hope that nowadays you can forgive his lack of empathy at the time.
Dude, even though your life story with bullies is way harsher than mine IMO, I think it is very relatable. Somebody I love told me once that our brains need closure to get over things like this. Its something that have been studied for years in psychology academia.
What happens is that we revive those moments and feel like they are happening again and we are there. We should really focus in making peace with those moments, we are no being fair to ourselves: it happened a very long time ago and we are not the same, even if we think otherwise.
The strategy to solve this is to write about a possible resolution or closure, with many details. It will work, even if completely fictional or violent; the more detail and dedication we put into it, the better. Our brains will make peace with that part of our past. It will remain in the paper and the intensity of the memories will fade away over time.
I'm actually about to write mine. I'll do it about every high school bully (and post-highschool, they are the same) I've ever encountered, even the ones that I merely had a one-time violent altercation in the subway. Bullies are simply violent people with lack of self-control, they are not worth more time in our memories, making us feel anxious.
Good call. Thanks!
Yeah, I hate when people get this judgmental about famous people, especially when they don't know the details or won't even post them to sustain their claims... SMH
I'm rewatching some of Jackie's movies from when I was a kid. Any advice? I'm 28 yo btw.
Glad you mentioned it. I actually just watched it last night, almost 20 years later!
I noticed that the famous way he stands up is depicted very well in this game.. among other things. The original Police Story was a very entertaining movie, I was so surprised by the practical effects used, considering it seems like a low budget movie. The stunts are obviously something special. No surprise he became so big overseas later on.
He was 31 when the movie was released. He obviously had perfected some of his skills by 1985. I don't know much about his team and costars, I hope they are still in the business, their acting seemed very charming overall (I'd need to see a non dubbed version, but I'm sure Cantonese is complicated to subtitle, I can guarantee that people who understand it can enjoy these movies in a whole different level we do).
Do you know if this game had Jackie singing in any scene or in the credits?
Yeahsure, coz the country changed a lot during Obama's term...
Valuable info. Thank you very much.
As I get older I realize that more and more.
Mature women have grown up to feel and act as you referenced in your last 3 lines.
I agree with OP. It is really not a bad film at all but the plot seems all over the place and the mood of the film changes constantly.
The problem is that in the country the movie was set, there are only two or three more gay-centered films. I thin the filmakers wanted to represent a lot of issues and relate to the audience in many ways so they did many different movies at once.
I think a more focused plot would've benefited the end result a lot.
I still liked many lines from the film. The father/son relationship was very well executed and the violence felt realistic and scary. Good filmmaking overall.
You have a point but... your post gets suspiciously anecdotal all of a sudden. Are you sure you don't work for her?
Haha, this is gold!
Late to this, but I love how you guys friendly argue, it warms my heart :')
