He definitely wins the contest first, presents the money to the wife and then later he pawns the watch. He pawns it right after saying no to do "things" for Augie, explaining "he is flush right now". In my view it means he'd rather get money that way than get it the easy way by doing illegal stuff for (I assume) the mob. It also establishes the fact that he's in need for money and puts greater emphasis on the scene in the end <spoiler> where he's okay with Don Shirley not playing the last show under those circumstances, even if it means he's not getting paid. </spoiler> I fully expected a light action-comedy, I was not ready for this. Tone of the movie is completely wrong. I'm not entirely sure who the target audience is. He probably felt like he could've done more to prevent what happened to Santiago. What I don't get is, if he felt that much guilt he wanted to kill himself, why not testify first to make things right? I just assumed they switched off randomizer when they found out about the guy that can confirm the code.. The French Teacher and the Mercenaries is a great band name. We were looking for something to kill an hour and a half and it did the job. I can't imagine I'll ever watch it again, but it had its moments. Nowhere nearly as bad as I expected. Him looking is distracting her from achieving an orgasm. At least that's what I understood. They couldn't have gotten through previous clues, because the Charlotte was the very first clue given by Charles Carroll to Thomas Gates. OP has a good point. <blockquote>You’re all wrong</blockquote> Should've stopped reading here. I don't understand these "haven't aged well" comments. VFX didn't look good even when the movie came out, let alone now. I still love it and watch it regularly. It's not even a guilty pleasure, because I have no guilt about loving this movie.
