Nah.. im no battered wife syndrome. I agree that all of the ideas posted could have been another movie between Pro and AC, but Ive also heard that this might be a possibility seeing as Ridley has said there could be 4 films before the link with A79.
But that the studios have greenlight two more prequels.
I get it, the film has holes.. i guess with watching the last supper and the David/Shaw story online- it gave me enough of a base to peak my expectations.
Im not sure why there is so much hate for AC? To be fair, I was shocked that Prometheus received bad reviews too.
What other Sci Fi 18+ films with incredible graphics and a great story are coming out?
Ive seen AC twice now and plan to do one more viewing, as far as im concerned i would be greatful if one if these came out every year. But with all these so-called fan boys crying foul, get a grip. What better is there?
Support the genre, unless you want true generic 13+PG crap cycled out.
Go onto youtube, and there are explanations and theories put out, and within 2 days they are getting 100K+ views. People are interested. This site will become more popular as AC is bringing people here.
One poster above talked about having Shaw in it -- sure I would love to have seen that, but this story was very compelling. Sci fi and even CGI was incredible.
I was lucky enough to have enjoyed original Alien in theatres... people "then" used to just allow themselves to escape, and get involved in the story. This movie deserves no criticism.. it's not perfect, but damn, it's a ton of fun to watch.
Yeah i understand that. On imdb you had choices: nest, flat, etc.. is there only one format on this? And if so why choose the one that makes it hard to read on mobiles.?
I agree with you that he should never have been second in command. In fact most of the crew were seriously flawed.. but remember billy was a religious guy, and they were selected to go to a proven researched planet to start a new colony. They were never supposed to go and fight xenomorphs. Not like prometheus, thete were some kick ass crew there. Knew what to expect. Had protocol. These guys simply werent trained for combat.
I still hold belief billy was more obsessed with answers which lead him right into the dragons lair.
Dont forget that david saved them from the field attack. Billy was in a totsl wtf shock moment. Theres no way he is expecting a facehugger. Moments earlier, even david touched the pod.
Problem is billy assumed (rightfully) that the neomorph killed the woman crew. David posed no threat, other than being an android. Billy would assume David was a good guy like walter.
But was seriously pissed when he pulled the gun on him. He wanted answers, david had the answers and went to show him. I agree the egg was convenient, but its not far out there when you understand billys character. He was a loser leader.
No i dont think it was a mess. It was loose in writing, and some convenient narrative. First look at the film as a stand alone : pretty damn good. It isnt as exciting as prometheus, but does its job. There can easily be a third, needed actually.
I think billy was still under the impression that androids must follow protocol and not hurt humans. All he had witnessed was that David was trying to cull the neomorph. He wanted answers, and as with most humans, curiosity kills the cat.
Its not that far out there to assume its just an egg with some sort of baby xeno inside. He has no idea wtf a facehugger is.
This sets up the 3rd prequel perfectly. While I wished to learn more about the engineers, there's only so much you can do.
There were also long clips online to give back stories on the David/Shaw travels. As well as the crew pre-hybernation. If you saw that, it gave you a good base.
This movie gave us great insight as to what David was trying to accomplish - though not in depth enough. What exactly he did with Shaw, im still confused. Testing? I also like the udea that David engineered the xenomorph, which really means that humans ourselves are pretty much responsible.
Finally the next (and final) film needs to tie in how the space jokey ship made its way to LV426 along with a ship full of xeno eggs. And obviously who the "final" jockey was we saw on LV426 bursted.
