So... Those people got divided to two groups. One is living in small houses, few people per building. Second decided to create a commune and gathered up to 50 people in one giant house. In a place where everyone will be murdered once anyone will open door and let monsters in. On top of that they were having parties, drinking and fighting with each other.

Yep, that went "well" as every sane person expected. Of course one idiot opened door and almost everyone got killed. Except few ones that jumped into car and ran away to town and got into small building.

How could any sane person think that it would be good idea to sit on one big house is beyond me. I mean they could party there in daylight and go home to sleep in small house. But nope. And I felt sorry to no one that got killed. All of them are idiots.

It’s implied that the tightness of colony house allows them to develop relationships (eg Fatima and the black sheriff’s son): we don’t see that sort of relationship in the town where people live separate. The allure of having close friendships draws them to take the risk of living at colony house; they want something to make them happy in that place
