The past must always be presented in a miserable light now so as to make our present dystopia seem preferable by comparison. Hollywood is pushing the Woke myth that the past was oppressive, dull, and terrible and everyone who lived then was miserable. This, as a Woke lesbian frontier romance is a prime example.
