Glad I watched it ... brought back a lot of memories of a simpler time ...

but, it was a real effort to sit through all of these film-clips. About 85% of this docu-series was stupid clowning around, and it was very difficult to hear and interpret what was happening because the sound was not great, and the continuity was chopped up and hard to follow. The repetition of the same thing for over 7 hours was tedious.

But overall it was fun to watch and made me smile a lot. I'm pretty tough with movie ratings, but I'd give this one a 7/10.

Being of an age where the remaining Beatles are likely to be gone before me, I can foresee a time when Paul and Ringo are no longer, and it will be a much colder, sadder world. I'm kind of dreading that. The world started changing way too fast in the 90's and now it is like going into warp drive and it is sad that people are swept up into the machine at such a young age that they will never know what life was like in that sweet spot between the dark past and the cold future that the last 20th century was and the Beatles represented.

Beautifully & truthfully said, my friend. For all the turmoil, all the urgent issues of wat & race & major changes in every aspect of life, there was always a sense of hope & joy that things were getting better all the time. There was a sense of endless possibilities, not just on a large scale, but on an individual scale as well. And the music of the Beatles played a vital part in that. I wish we could get it back again.

Exactly ... who at the time would have guessed there was a stopwatch timer going and we were heading towards probably extinction?

It was a time before social media. All the vitriol and vileness comes from it. Simpler times meant you spent more time with family and close friends instead of seeking hard for attention (unless you were the breakout celeb of course).

Agreed. People seem to think they only really exist if they're seen, if they're constantly performing for some unseen audience. And as with any drug, the longer it's used, the stronger the dose required to get high.

All too true. This is not the future I envisioned as a boy, sad to say. If anything, we seem to have regressed in many ways.

reply

Yeah, this gets to me and bothers me every day. This is pure insanity.

Not a simpler time by any means (no time ever has been "simpler"), but a freer and more hopeful time, with far better music.

Get Back. to the 90s. yeh the late 90s were the sweet spot of the old world and new where you had the early days of (surfing) the net with forums, ebay etc but no shitty SM. Plus Star Wars and Bond and Travolta were back, with great new stuff like Pulp Fiction, The Matrix and Fight Club
