This should have beat Barbenheimer

It's way better than Barbie and Oppenheimer.

I think the general consensus among most people was that Tom was fully justified in that rant when it was first leaked. There was a lot at stake during the making of that film apparently, it wasn't a one off incident that caused the blow up. They were hoping the rant would ruin his reputation, but I remember most defended him.

Compare Tom's rant to Christian Bale's leaked rant on the set of Terminator Salvation - that was a psychotic episode he was having. That was not normal. Tom was just giving them a dressing down like a drill sergeant by comparison.

I don't think Bale's rant made Terminator Salvation bomb, he was still hot property coming off of the dark knight. I think it failed because everyone just decided it sucked because it was directed by McG. Movie goers can sometimes have hive minds and just dogpile on a film that's not that bad, which is what happened to Salvation, even though it was a big improvement on T3.

Likewise Cruise's rant. I think maybe people are getting jaded with the mission impossible films and that's why it made less.

haha fair enough! Bale went bat shit crazy right enough, I still remember every line of that epic rant:

Bale: "McG, you have fucking something to say to this prick?!"

McG: "Didn't see it happen!"

Bale: "Well then somebody should be fucking watching him and keeping an eye on him!"

McG: "Fair enough!"

Lmao. So funny because it proved that Bale was calling all the shots. Can you imagine that happening on a James Cameron or Scorsese set?

I don't think that rant by TC hurt the movie. It was really just a bad release date. Plus I do think splitting the story into two parts was a mistake. Even Y/A movies gave up on that tactic.
