64% Drop at box office this weekend. Worse than Fallout
Why do you think it's underperforming?
shareWhy do you think it's underperforming?
shareFranchise fatigue. It happened to F&F too.
TC must be pissed after all the work he put making and promoting it.
Bad timing. Reviews for this one were the greatest for any in the franchise history
It probably should have released a few weeks before or after the two big films released last week. I know releasing this near to them was going to hurt it.
Media needs to start talking about Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning straight out flopping.
People are finally tired from those Fast and Mission franchises where they keep releasing sequels and dont even care to create interesting plot. Plot for this movie is: "Tom Cruise. Stunts. Dangerous, look". That all I remember. Which means there is zero plot.
At least Fallout had Henry Cavill with cool villain.
The plot was interesting in this one and the film at least has one.
Mario made huge money at the box office but doesn’t have much of a plot, same with Barbie at the moment.
Of course they’re going to market the film with the stunts because that’s part of the fun of the franchise and has worked for them so far until this film.
💯
shareI consider myself a huge fan of the series, but being realistic the M:I movies have never made more than 700-and-something million worldwide, these are not Marvel-Harry Potter-LOTR movies, not even James Bond movies, M:I are mid-tier... it was kinda crazy to allow this one to be so expensive... should have kept the budget in the mid 100 million as their most recent previous entries.
Dead Reckoning is almost at 400 million worldwide after 12 days of release... I assume it will perform similar to Fallout by the end of its run, but still not enough for having spent 300 million just in production when every other installment since part 2 - Fallout has been between 125M-178M production budget.
The way it looks now the losses will be in the $200 million range after its run!
shareyep, may make 500m total , but needs 750m to break even
shareIt depends on the split between foreign and domestic, but it may need over $1 billion to break even if it continues to make most of its money overseas. If it ends up with $400 million at U.S. theaters, it will need about $700 million overseas to break even.
shareProbably because it's the seventh movie, it's too long by 43 minutes, and I as a fan didn't like the last 2 movies with Rebecca MID Ferguson.
shareSame reason every film is underperforming lately-- most people are lazy dumbasses. If you give them an easy way to do something, they'll take it, even if it provides a shitty experience. You can sit on your fat ass at home and eat chips and ice cream while streaming a film.
This is true of nearly everything in life: the world caters to the lazy dumbasses, because they are the majority, so everything continues to get worse, because the lazy dumbasses demand cheap mediocrity.
Usual things. Maybe the length of it, maybe cause its starting to feel like the same thing every time, and maybe because its just a part one with an open end. Either way, still a good movie with damn good stunts that deserves better than its getting
If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve - https://youtu.be/xmCxvj2812U
