No Tom Cruise?

Finally watched it and altho having been semi spoiled on most of the cameos by various unwanted photos on my twitter feed was still expecting Cruise to appear he was so heavily rumoured. Looking at trivia it states

It was rumored that Tom Cruise would appear as the Earth-838 version of Tony Stark as part of the Illuminati, since Cruise was originally in the running to play Stark in Iron Man (2008) before Robert Downey Jr. was cast. Michael Waldron liked the idea and thought about approaching Cruise, but Kevin Feige said it would be unlikely that Cruise would sign on due to his already-full schedule filming Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning - Part One (2023) and Mission: Impossible 8 (2024).

Pretty sure if they'd asked him he wouldve done like a days shooting just to be in one of these super successful crazy marvel films but without actually having to do one properly, something like a fun scene where he'd get killed first before he even spoke . But perhaps the real reason was the fact they had a huge star in Patrick Stewart back as Professor X, a Cruise cameo would've detracted from that I guess. The other Illuminati members were fun cameos and well known in MCU (and Krazinski been on everyones wish list for Reed for years) but not huge stars. So ultimately Cruise wasnt really needed (and maybe he's on for portraying alt Stark further down the line in a bigger way in Secret Wars etc.) and its probably same reasons for why Jackman/Wolverine didn't appear. I thought Black Bolt was Cruise as alt-Iron Man then realised it was Anson Mount reprising his Inhumans role (which was a pretty cool as he's a big deal due to Star Trek now - Pike and Picard! and Khan!)
