why in tarnation are they making a second one?

first one was a masterpiece. this is just like the matrix they are ruining the first movie and how good it was by milking the cash cow for more. russle crowe is dead his family is dead the movie is over it is a masterpiece why the fuck would u ruin that masterpeice with such a ridiculous cashgrab

reply

yeah, I really wish Ridley would/could do Battle of Britain instead.

reply

I can clear up at least part of this for you: Making a second movie will NOT "ruin the first." This particularly stupid concept, conceived in inane discussions and perpetuated on countless message boards, has No Currency. I promise: you'll still be able to pull the first movie off the shelf and enjoy it any time you like.

Yer welcome.

reply

yes but i wont remember it with as much fondness as i did in past. just like the second borat film was mildly funny but should have never been made because all it does it bring down the first film which was arguably the greatest comedy ever fucking made. it is a sellout grab money move that ruins legacy of the first. you can either have legacy be pure or u can have more money but u cant have both. u cant have your cake and eat it too

reply

Trust me. . .I get that there are people who are unable to consider films on their own, and instead have to group all entries together. I'm just pointing out the illogic of the position.

reply

It isn't illogical. A terrible sequel can certainly tarnish the memory, and enjoyment, of a great original film.

Gladiator is hardly a “masterpiece.” It’s a chick flick disguised as a boy movie. The minute he decided not to kill the emperor just because there was a little boy present, it lost its balls. The guy had your family crucified and burned, and you worry about some random kid’s emotional development? Nope, this is a girl movie.

200 pounds ago, girls liked Russell Crowe.

reply

Just like the Star Wars prequels, it tarnishes the purity of the original. Whenever you watch the first movie you will always be reminded that there’s an high-profile inferior sequel out there that ruined the story. It will NEVER GO AWAY. It will always be there like a hemorrhoid.

"Gladiator 2: Zombies Eat Rome". In this action-packed sequel to 2000s Gladiator, Maximus and his family are raised from the dead by an Egyptian sorcerer and spark a zombie outbreak in the gritty streets of Rome!

reply

okay now if they did that i would onboard lol

reply

..then, when they're about to lose they time travel back and ask the Babylonians for help.

reply

That would be awesome lmao

reply

The ending of Gladiator gave us no hint of a potential follow up. I'm pretty sure Maximus dies at the end, I wonder what the plot will be? And isn't it usually a bad idea to make a sequel for a film that's 20 years old? Hmmmm.. Although, I did like Tron: Legacy and that was 28 years old. We'll see how this plays out but I'm not getting my hopes up.

reply

the only real way to do it is the zombie plot that would be pretty rad

reply

Zombies might be alright but I would rather have an actual "Gladiator" movie.

Although, I just noticed the movie poster for this is the exact same for that film The Last Duel. Not sure what this means exactly but you heard it here first.

reply

I'm going to assume it's a prequel or takes place in a different time/place with different gladiators.
They are just hoping the title will help them sell more tickets, while having nothing to do with the first film - unless it's an unlikely terminator sequel with time travel and stuff.

reply

whatever it is i doubt they will be able not to tarnish the original unless ofcourse they go the zombie or maybe an alien route would also be sufficient

reply

Well - they could certainly tarnish it by making a direct sequel with fat Russel Crowe.

reply

idk a fat ghost of russel crowe showing up would be pretty funny

reply

They ran out of ideas so sequeals, reboots, and super hero movies is all we will get now.

reply

i fucking hate super hero movies they are almost as boring as brain numbing was watching organized sports

reply

Gawd I hate em too. So boring.

reply

the only good one is The Toxic Avenger 1986 movie that is a lower budget cult classic not a mainstream comic book hero film. it is so crazy and fucked up. breaks all the rules of a normal comic book hero films like children and dogs being killed. the film is more of a dark comedy tho

reply

I'll have to check it out. Dark comedy is my favorite.
Of the more recent super hero collection, I only like Guardians of the Galaxy.

reply

yeah Guardians of the Galaxy was enjoyable film i have not watched it since release so i forgot a lot of it but remember laughing a lot. i gotta give it a rewatch and download the other ones too they made while im at it
