Eternals opening strong?

Marvel’s gonna marvel.

ETERNALS scored $9.5M last night in previews—that’s stronger than SHANG-CHI ($8.8M) but behind both BLACK WIDOW ($13M) and VENOM ($11M).

It opened with Pink Floyd, cannot get any better than that opening.

I missed the very opening, dammit, did they do some kind of "Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii" tie-in or was it something else?

reply

No, although that would have been cool.

Considering "time" was an important theme in this movie, in the beginning Salma Hayek wakes up and says "it's time", after a few intro action scenes they start playing the song "Time" by Pink Floyd, all through the Marvel Studios intro.

Awesome, thank you for the info!

Let's remind that big companies are buying opening weekend tickets to boost numbers and create the impression that the movie started strong. We don't know how much Disney is pushing, but given the bad scores, I guess a lot.

Movies used to fall about a 30% in their second and third weekends. Because of this, now they're falling about a 50%-60%.

I saw it last night (Thursday) and enjoyed the movie well enough. My local AMC had 6pm IMAX, 6:15pm RealD 3D, and 7pm 2D digital. I reserved my ticket around 5:30pm. 3D was sold out (bummer for me, that's my preference), IMAX was very full, and I didn't check 2D digital. I saw the movie in IMAX. The mid-credits scene was ok and I'm excited about the post-credits scene!

its opening as expected 70-80m, its the mcu. When Star Wars does under 100m, everyone says flop flop flop
