My expectations for this are super low. But I'll say this, I'm glad its at least rated R

Shame Venom & freaking Carnage were reduced to pg13

reply

I liked the Venom movies alright but I agree. They seem to be going for it with the violence in this one at least. Also, the director they got for this one is actually pretty solid.

reply

I liked the first Venom. It was fun. But disliked the sequel. They wasted Carnage and Woody Harrelson.

I mean you've got a symbiote bonding with a serial killer & you barely do anything with it & tone it down? WTF?!

reply

Yeah, the Sony-verse has been so off=kilter and weird enough that I can't entirely dismiss it. Though I think it would had been better off just making all of their movies R rated and centering it around Venom and not Spider-Man. I think it'd be cooler if Kraven wound up hunting Eddie Brock instead of Peter Parker.

That genuinely sounds better than their plan so far for their shared universe

Also, what was their endgame? The atrocious Morbius post credit scene suggests that they were forming a Sinister 6

Which makes absolutely NO SENSE. Cause none of them, except for The Vulture even know who Spider-man is.

Why would any of these characters even want to fight Spider-man?!

Right? Where's my check, Sony?

I think that is what they've wanted to do for the last fifteen years, come hell or high water. But yeah, the set-up doesn't make a lick of sense.

-".. Why would any of these characters even want to fight Spider-man?!"

Back to my earlier post, it would had been much more sensible to base the Sony-verse around Venom as a 'Lethal Protector' sort of vigilante who makes all these villains skittish.

reply

Yeah, I remember when they tried to do the whole sinister 6 thing with Andrew Garfield's Spider-man.

The thing is, most of these movies actually don't have to connect or be set in the same universe.

Just give a good director & writer some freedom & let them do their thing. But that'll probably never happen.

There's waaay too much studio interference. Cause Sony are OBSESSED with a shared universe & wanna do it with or without spidey.

It failed when they first did it with The Amazing Spider-man & its countless planned sequels & spin-offs and it'll probably fail this time too. There's no coherence whatsoever.

reply

Well, visually they do look the same.

reply

Not impressed. I hope the Marvel machinery lets Chandor do his thing.

reply

Good lord they made him into a were-lion. It's Morbin' time!
