I thought that was a brilliant moment. I wouldn't call it obscure-- it's among his signature tunes-- but hearing Ice Cube bust out an Ice-T lyric was a showstopper.
shareI doubt anyone under 40 would get that reference... maybe I'm wrong. I took it as an easter egg for the adults who took their kids to watch this. A reminder that the type of kids who listened to old school rap grew up to be the adults that made this movie.
shareMost definitely, but it was part of what made it so much fun. The De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest tracks were perfectly chosen as well.
