Once the truth came out about Reva, I had all kinds of sympathy.

I didn't care for the character at first. Plus, Moses Ingram's acting seriously lacked. But I'd like to know more about the character and where her future led her. She was clearly torn and hurt by her past, and pretty lucky she survived a battle with Darth Vader.

She was a nasty character, but I'd like to know if almost obtaining her objective changed her. Does she in any way want to atone for her actions.

If there's a season 2, I hope to see her in it.

Her acting was fine throughout. She's still just a kid. An abducted child soldier. But she's expected to be some super cool impressive villain like Zod or something.

People were complaining that she had no presence and wasn't awe inspiring. Where was she supposed to acquire this presence? And since when was the audience supposed to be inspired by a villain?

Everything has turned into a popularity contest these days. Playing a bad ass villain is seen as a virtue and a reward that should only be given to people who impress parts of the audience. Like Negan in TWD. And, unfortunately, a lot of nerdy guys are constantly looking for a new daddy.

I think most of the supposed acting critiques were just kneejerk reactions to not getting the kind of villain that audiences are accustomed to.

Don't overthink it, my man. No one ever said she needed be "awe-inspiring". I certainly didn't. IMO, she didn't fill the role she was playing very well.

She is an embarrassingly bad actor, but she's not the only one. All the Inquisitors were bad actors, sneering, pouting and overacting in every scene like cartoon bad guys.

reply

I blame the director... It was not only acting; the fight scenes lacked, the pacing was odd at times... if the director sucks, even great actors will struggle.

This is where I landed too.

I made a post after the first couple episodes and brought up her acting, but I also blame the direction. She got noticeably better as the series went on.

In fact, pretty much everyone on the show improved after the first couple episodes. It just took a little while to find it's groove.

Plenty of people have said she's supposed to be intimidating, imposing, menacing, awe inspiring.

What role was she playing then that she could fill?

reply

I have no idea what she was "suppose" to be. All I know is she lacks in the acting department.

reply

If you have no idea what role you are talking about then how can you say that she failed to fulfil that role?

reply

Damn, dude. Are you okay? You said "people have said she's supposed to be intimidating". I said, "I have no idea what she was suppose to be". Meaning, I really have no idea about the opinions of others. It's just IN MY OPINION, she wasn't good in the role.

Is this a parody post?

reply

It's most likely a Disney plant.
