Whats the point of Hayden Christensen being back for this?

You don't see his face, or even hear his voice, he's fully covered up in Vader's suit and James Earl Jones is the voice, he's essentially a stuntman. And the brief glimpse you did see of his face in the water without the mask it was so covered up in prosthetics it could've been anyone.

Just feels kinda pointless for him to be in this.

I assume there will be other scenes without the helmet in the following episodes?

Some fans would argue that even though Darth Vader's movements are kinda limited
Hayden has already played the character before and 'only he knows how to move like Vader',
(even though Vader has been played by several other actors before/after the prequels).

(I'm not one of those people)

Think of it a little like Jason Vorhees... that each actor who has portrayed him has like his own little group of fans.

Hayden has been doing interviews and promoting the show.
Since Star Wars has such a fanbase, perhaps a group of fans is excited about his return?

Anyways he must be kinda affordable, it's not like he's Tom Cruise or The Rock.

I have no issue with him, he's alright... there are other larger issues with the writing and other characters in the show though.

Lol, especially his Frankenstein - walk in ROTS...

Fan service?

Yeah, I thought the same.

Lets hope there will be at least flashbacks. That would be fun.

Its ok him being back for flashbacks, and scenes where wed see his face but for the suit surely a big 6ft 6 guy would've been better (like Prowse and the Rogue 1 Vader) , Hayden is like 6ft 1 at most?

Does he have anything better to do?

It's a nice fan service. Even if you don't see his face, you know he's there; physically on set and working with Ewan McGregor again. Though I am not a fan of the prequels and don't have that nostalgia, I think it was a smart choice.

It does seem pointless doesn't it? But I assume they will have his mask off in later episodes for some reason. Also that's 1 guy who already has background, training and experience as Anakin Skywalker fighting with a lightsaber. They won't need to train a new guy to fight like Anakin did in ep 2 and 3. And if you've ever danced with a partner, you would know that one's performance is dependent on your familiarity with your partner and their feel. A new partner throws you off because you would need to get reacquainted once again. In this show and in ep 3, Ewan and Hayden are dance partners.

Wasn't he supposed to be doing the voice when he joined? I swear I read that. It must have tested poorly.
