Tarantino's favorite movie of the year

Not surprised. It’s a throwback kind of movie. I liked it too.

Tarantino's always finding these little gems and giving them a bit of a boost.

2019 had better films, though. I guess his own Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood wasn't really a contender (since it would be gauche to pick your own movie), but aside from that, I preferred Joker, The Irishman, Uncut Gems, Knives Out, and The Lighthouse. I haven't seen Parasite or Marriage Story yet, but I have a feeling I might like them a bit more than Crawl, too. Jojo Rabbit looked cool, too.

Crawl was entertaining and thrilling, but it lacked a solid one-two punch at the family drama that forms the real story of the piece. It's there, but not enough for me to elevate this movie above "popcorn muncher".
