What's with the pig?
There's a dressed pig who appears repeatedly in the movie, what's his purpose?

shareA writer thinking they're being clever no doubt but it serves as nothing more than a reference to Animal Farm.
shareI don't even get why the pig was inside the huge wooden crate in the beginning. Doesn't make any sense. Sometimes Damon Lindelof is really out of control, more than usual.
shareThere surely is a weird allegoric reference/explanation for staging this scene that way. I'm not educated enough to get it though, lol.
shareAt the very least the pig connects the diplomat's car scene with the ranch. When they stop the car in the middle of the road they don't know where they are, and then they see the pig, so then they have a pretty good clue where they are.
shareI couldn't help but notice you assumptively gendered the pig as a him. You're lucky this isn't Twitter or I'd have you banned.
shareWhat do you mean, how is relevant if it's a male or female pig?
sharepepetoony is merely mocking the absurdity of Twitter and the mentalists that call it it home.
It might not be male. It might be female. It might identify as a potato. By assuming it's gender you are clearly a white supremacist male cis nazi /S
"Animal Farm" by George Orwell is referenced a few times. It is about the animals rebelling against the human farmers, but end up running the farm under much worse conditions (kind of like; Lord of The flys). I take it the rednecks are the animals here, and the established elite are the human farmers.... so, I suppose, they use this story to remind our rednecks that their rebellious attitude will not bring them any prosper. The order of things has them as the elite, and it is best for everyone if it doesn't change....
In other words, rednecks are farm animals, and they ought to accept it.
it's some flare for the movie and the poster.
it's like the dog in there's something about mary. after that every film had to have a wacky animal scene for a while. i don't think this movie is influenced by that in particular but it helps in the confusion of what is going on in the film but overall isn't necessary to the story.
