So this is a purely fantasy version of the story?

They’re including black and Hispanic characters in the league though none were allowed to participate in WWII. So this is a purely fantasy version of the story? Will they have fairies and elves too? That’s just as believable.

I heard an interview with the creator/star on NPR. Apparently it's also going to focus on how many of the players were gay too. Way to reinforce the "most female athletes are gay" stereotype. Plus of course there were SO many out lesbians in the 1940's.

You're wrong. The team is still lily-white! It will show the PAIN of racism which black women had to endure by not being allowed to join the League no matter how skilled they were!

reply

So it’s two stories in one series? Why make it so convoluted?

reply

The original movie had a short scene with a black woman who could have easily played if racism didn't exist.

They should have just expanded on her story since "League of Their Own" was already done. But in answer to your question, it's about greed. The movie made money once, therefore they're hoping it's a profitable success again.

reply

Yep, it's A League of Their Own (Woke Edition) or (Alternate Reality Edition)

reply

Yes it's yet another a woke fantasy show that no one will watch.

reply

It's not woke. Black women were not allowed to try out or play in the Women's League because of racism. This series is telling the truth.

reply

Why do you think that all movies and TV shows have to be historically accurate, you know Marvel shows, Star Wars shows and DC shows are not that historically accurate either.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

reply

Part of it is fantasy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-American_Girls_Professional_Baseball_League_rules_of_play

They started out playing softball. The rules changed over the years so that they were playing MLB rules for the most part by the last year they existed.

reply

That's interesting. So they were close to the softball leagues that still exist today.

The original movie with Tom Hanks had the same fantasy.

reply

I suppose it would be more accurate to call historical fiction. There was a league, but the names are changed and the plot is largely a figment of the writer's imagination. Kind of like the film Moneyball was to the Oakland A's and Trouble with the Curve was to the Atlanta Braves, but more fiction than these two.
