Why did she ignore the school notification on her phone?

In the scene where Kidman is counseling 2 men in her office, her cell goes off and she precedes to tell the men that her phone rings only if there is an emergency at the school her kid attends. She looks at the phone w/ a notification from the school "With sadness.....". Then she ignores the call and puts the phone back down. Was this to show some side of her character?

I am guessing, because it didn't concern her son. The notification just said that some parent was killed.

Yeah, the employed side, she was in the middle of a therapy session where headway was being made.

Spoilers.
This is a very good question. Everybody got the alarm, even her son. And the alarm says there’s a murder. But Kidman says she only finds out about Elena’s death through Sylvia’s phone call. And yet we know during the session that she received the alarm and told her two patients that her phone was programmed to accept emergency calls from the school and she must check her phone. And she does and so do we - it says important message Reardon School — with sadness... Of course, she clicks on the message. But later, Kidman said message refers to a family tragedy with a fourth grader. But EVERYONE else says, it mentions the murder. Just one of the many things that happen that don’t make sense and they are using to keep you guessing.

Why is the school even involved in this? Had nothing to do with the school and was a private matter.
