Question about the stream views at the end

So at the end of the film they showed that the stream views were only about 500 or so, far fewer than the near-million views up until that point. Did the views drop after the characters admitted that they faked some of the scenes OR were the views always so few and the ghosts were playing tricks on them? Remember that when some of the characters wanted to quit the captain pushed them further because he wanted to get a million views. Could it have been the ghosts' work? We saw paranormal phenomena in the captain's tent with the lights going out, and we saw that they have some effect on the stream too when the captain noticed that all characters were on camera at the same time and he wondered who is filming them...
So it was all for nothing then lol.
