Series 1 was great. Had a huge cathartic finale with Quill and IG11's sacrifices.
Series 2 was off to a decent start but half way through virtually all the choices were motivated by fan service. We are seeing Star Wars becoming Marvelised. (Marvelized).
Mandalorian was getting respectable reviews from fans during S1. Disney haters either weren't all that interested in it and/ormocked the "creative bankruptcy" of the show being set just post ROTJ and having stormtroopers running around , AT-STs, Not Jango. Not Boba but something like them - tick!
All of a sudden, practically superfluous episodes designed simply to jam an already known character into the plot in the middle of series 2. Within a couple of weeks, the place is crawling with nerds claiming that the show is what the ST should have been, lol.
The truth is that Mandalorian is designed to be safe as fuck and deliver a few belly rubs along the way for the 40-50 year old children who are paying to watch it.
I loved it. Don't get me wrong. But the idea that it's some breakthrough that's saving Star Wars and not a far bigger leap backwards than the sequels could ever be accused of is ludicrous.
