Is it considered a flop?
Seems like it's going to make less than 25 million this weekend. Is it a flop?

shareIt only matters what the final box office is, but this wasn't a cheap movie to make. I can't believe they invested 50 million in this. Figure $110 million in box office sales , simply to break even. That's a light number, because marketing was fairly minimal on this.
shareYou think they'll admit it, even if it is?
shareIf it flops they’ll say it is because people are racist who don’t want to see black women on lead roles. Which is basically what Viola said already.
shareYeah, I read that. She said basically said go see it no matter the quality, just so you can support black women in lead roles.
I'm sure it's well made, but they didn't check all the boxes people wanted for the story. From what I can tell, black folks are more angry at the story than anyone.
It just doesn't interest me. I liked Black Panther, but this seems like it's going to bore me. Probably wasn't needed to be made.
shareThat's why a lot of people go, to "support" black actors, etc. Why do you have to support anyone swimming in money already is beyond me. But, of course, people like Davis want people to come out and be useful tools to get her a higher amount of the box office.
shareShe's crazy... racist by not watching the movie?
What about the support from the African American community?
There are over 40 million African Americans in the USA... if just half saw the movie (no one else outside AA) and each paid $10 to watch, WK would make at least 200 million in the USA alone.
They'll lie and call it a huge success.
Like they did with 'Black Panther' (which inexplicably made a 'reported' shit-ton of money in such a short time)
Someone had to say it?
